RE: Your Dream Job

Ideally, I'd love to be a high-ranking executive at a financial company (and have said company pay for First class airline tickets, of course  Wink). I've always been fascinated with the business world, and I've been told that I have a knack for it. Ironically, I'm attending college to be a pilot. That's a close second on my list. Anyone ever chosen something that wasn't their first choice because they weren't sure they could 'make it'?

I'd like to be a curator for the National Air and Space Museum.

Maybe in the World War II department. Or maybe help expand the Commercial Aviation Collection.

But it would be incredibly cool to design the real thing, and then be able to ride it in real life.  Smile

Stop the press, here's my dream job: flying a propeller aircraft or chopper for a multinational around the mind blowing sceneries of africa, with occasional mixing with the elements, including open window flying, or low flying over salty sea waters during sunset.

Flying over a coast during a sunset is, as far as I am concerned, the pinacle of being a human.

Airline CEO

That sounds about right, but add about 20 other divisions onto the company. Add my architectural and civil engineering division, and aircraft manufacturer, car manufacturer, personal security, cargo, amusement parks, several hundred Tim Horton's branches, and about 15 airlines based around the globe. In this I will also be a National Diplomat, and a Pilot in my airlines

There ya Go, That's MY dream job! This MAY just be a little difficult!

My options:
Aeronautical engineer (which is what I'm currently headed for)

If not, airline or corporate pilot.

If not, I can try to start my own airline.

If not, I can try to become a professional musician.

(I'll post the following because it's more than interesting: one of my classmates is likely to become a professional inmate.)

For me it would be the head of a small commuter regional PROP airline in my area providing quality and essential air transportation to Rural American cities without the need for government subsidies.
Building that company to become an extensive but not over-extravegant operation that caters to getting the traveller and goods from point A to point B without the customers having deal with all the "Big Airline" hassles, excuses and Non-Existant Customer Service.

Im not looking to become a Millionaire Airline CEO, thats for people who are greedy and don't care about airplanes and airlines....What would be nice is to have the satisfaction of seeing my airline's airplanes taking off from an airport and making a positive difference to communities, commerce, passengers and my employees. Thats my dream job.......

That's up there on my list too. I think the position is filled by a full bird Colonel. Not sure if the F/O is another Colonel or a Lt. Colonel, etc. I'm trying to be a pilot in the USAF, so maybe I can work my way up to this position.
Then again, having just about any job on Air Force One would be pretty cool.

Hopefully not a used-car dealership. Used car salesman are probably the only "profession" below lawyers in terms of being hated.  wink

It's not the dream job you think it would be. Yes you do have to be a bit crazy to be one.

My personal dream jobs:

1. Brewmaster at a brewery. I'd love to either start my own microbrewery or go work for either a brewpub or regional microbrewery. Of course, I'd need to learn how to brew beer, so some zymurgy training would be in order first thing.

2. Coffee roaster/coffee shop owner. If I were to leave my current job and start my own business, this is what I'd probably do. Start up my own store where all of our coffee is roasted on site and the only way to get beans any fresher would be to pick them yourself.

3. Professional gambler. I wouldn't mind a job where one could potentially make in a few hour's work more than most make in a week (legally). I'd be happy to play in a major poker tournament and walk out of there with a payday that's more than what I'm making a year currently.

3 - ISS astronaut

I think you are right. Air Force One visited Lajes Field, Azores, in June 1974, when I was stationed there. I met and got to talk with Col Ralph Albertazzi, the pilot of the then 707, after I had finished showing members of the Presidential party to their quarters. (I got to meet everyone except Nixon himself...Rosemary Woods, Ron Ziegler, General Haig, the whole presidential party). Col Albertazzi was just standing around outside the BOQ in his dress blues. We had a great conversation. Basically, he flew the plane, and then had nothing to do except pass the time however he wanted until time to fly the plane again. Imagine...traveling all over the world all the time, hauling all the power people of the US government. BTW, all the enlisted people of the crew that I met were E-9's, Chiefs.

Good luck with you career as an AF pilot.

I would love to build a huge shelter outside of the city as a place for kids to go to that are homeless and abused. Also, somewhere that displaced people could come to for help and give them the tools to help themselves get back on track.

My dream job? Hmmm...

At one point it was being a bartender. I did that, enjoyed it, and don't need to do that again.

I also used to fantasize about being a boss, but I'm doing that now.

Something outdoors would be great, as well as something where I'm only responsible for myself and my own work. Travel to exotic locales would be a must and I really like deserts, so...
