Well, I may be wrong about that too. From Wikipedia:

Actually, if you're refering to the incident I think you are and to be utterly trivial... she wasn't 'fired' by NASA beacuse she wasn't employed by NASA, instead she was 'on loan' from the Navy, so NASA just terminated her duty and returned her to the Navy.
