Just consider the latest budgets coming out of the House. Huge spending increases accompanied by the largest tax increase in history. Say goodbye to our strong economy. I'm converting my stocks to bonds myself...

Good point. I plan on getting as much elective medical care accomplished as I can in time to beat the expected downfall of the American medical care system.

My point was, if you're gonna say Dems are inching towards communism (which is always a red flag that someone knows nothing about communism) you have to say the GOP is inching towards Nazism, especially with this administration. You can't have it both ways

It's funny, with the November elections, there was a clear shift to the middle for the Democratic party, yet in your view they're going more towards communism. I wonder why you think that.  Yeah sure

Saying it's lousy does not make it so (although clearly it worked on you).

We are at full employment. The budget deficit is coming under control (unless the Dems manage to dick with it). Inflation is under control. GDP growth is at a slow (compared to the 90s) but steady rate, which I prefer as an economist because the risk of economic overheating like we saw in 2000 is lessened. If the tax cuts remain in place, we could see the longest period of sustained growth in nearly a century.

That's not the issue. It is an example. Whether you agree with it or not, whether you personally want it or not.

Socialism is a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

Universal Healthcare is a staple of Socialism. Ask anyone from a Socialist Democracy, they are all over Europe. You asked for an example of Democrat policies that are inching toward socialism. I gave you an example.

You can't reject an example simply because its something you want!

That's like saying ice cream isn't fattening because I want some. Your premise is absurd.

Halls120,

I appreciate what you're saying and agree. But what has B777-700s comments have to do with this anyway?

He asked for and example of a Socialist policy advocated by Democrats, I gave him one, now he denies it's an example because it's something he's in favor of.

How is pointing out other socialist policies going to make him see them as examples as well?

If I said Social Security, he'd deny that too, despite the fact that old age Pensions run by the government are run in every socialist country in the world.

He doesn't know the difference between communist and socialist. He isn't going to let anyone teach him the difference either.

Where you personally wiretapped?

Wire taps of terrorism suspects is akin to Nazism? Terrorists calling from outside the US being recorded is Nazi like?
I'd like to have an explanation of the similarities please. This is a completely different type of Nazism than I was taught about in college.

Are you sure you want to hang your hat on this?

Executive orders by previous administrations including Clinton's and Carter's authorized the attorneys general to exercise authority with respect to both options under FISA.[77][78] In Clinton's executive order, he authorized his attorney general "[pursuant] to section 302(a)(1)" to conduct physical searches without court order "if the Attorney General makes the certifications required by that section".

That took only seconds to find.

So either the Bush administration did nothing other previous administrations haven't done, or Clinton and Carter have been inching toward Nazism too.

BTW I'd like you to note I didn't refute this example by saying "It's a good thing. We ought to be doing this."

No, instead I argued that it's legal. Furthermore it targets criminal and terrorist activity.

I'm sorry B777-700 as much as you'd like to think, there isn't an American Gestapo running around the country, arresting dissidents.
