I dunno around 11AM, I will probably be able to make it to the other side tho, I will give a shoutout, BTW you noted Photography as one of your hobbies, what do you shoot with?

Digital? Either a Canon 10 or 20D, and for aviation a 100-400IS lens.

Film? A little bit of everything, from 35mm on up. I may bring a small (4 x 5") view camera with me Saturday--there's a shot or two I've been thinking about trying at the Proud Bird.

My Train arrives into Los Angeles Union Station at 1200PT, I will be at the Central Terminal complex by 1pm arriving on FlyAway Union Station, from there, i will be boarding the LAXShuttle Line C to the Los Angeles International City Bus Center, from there, i will be boarding a Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Line #3 to Sepulveda and Westchester. I believe it was mentioned earlier that you guys will be at In-N-Out by 1330PT. If this is info is wrong, then its as simple as going south on Los Angeles Metro Line #232, then walk to the hill.

What time would you need that pick up? One of us should be able to swing by and get you.

CO495 arrives at LAX at 0919. If I remember LAX correctly you just walk off the concourse, down the escalator and out the door, takes about 5-10 minutes right? So anywhere between 0925 and 0930. I will pm you with my cell. Probably be black pants and a white shirt since I'll be jumpseating.

My outbound departs at 0050 Sunday morning so if someone could drop me off say around 2330 I'd appreciate it.

Guys, seeing that we might have a "large" group of people going to the Proud Bird, i can take the liberty of making reservations. Just need a final head count and what time the reservation should be for. I might also warn you beforehand that the past 2 times ive had dinner at Proud Bird (with a group of people), they have messed up our checks such as adding items to a table that didnt even order the such item. Other than that, the food is so-so, ive had better steaks in my life. As for the view, its awesome.

This is this coming Saturday, correct?

Anyone have directions to Imperial Hill from, say, Sepulveda and Imperial Highway? Is there parking around the hill?

I'm planning on being there. I'll have my car, and can give probably 2 other people rides (still have a bunch of crap in the car, as I'm still crashing at a friend's place here).

Also, my girlfriend may come along, if I can convince her - she was kind enough to accompany me to the BOS meet, but dunno if she'll be up for that sort of thing again  Smile

I'm having a hard time describing it except to say that it's west of Sepulveda and just a bit east of the 7-11 on what looks like a residential street. You park along the street. Bring walking shoes, but you won't have to do much of it. It's easy to find.

Okay... here's my plan: I'm gonna be in the vicinity of LAX by about 9:30 to rescue RJdxer from the terminal, and I'm going to need to shove off no later than 1pm (probably from In-n-Out). During that time, I'll give lifts to whomever needs them. HOWEVER...I may or may not have the Saxdiva-mobile, as the transmission is being bitchy and it's going to the mechanic Friday. If he's not done, I won't get it back. With that in mind, who's car-less, and will any of you be schlepping anything that can't be carried on your lap? I've got a gig later in the day, so I'll probably have to put my equipment in the trunk that morning.

If anyone wants my cell #, please PM or e-mail before the site craps out again. Also, RJDxer, you might just give me a call when your flight gets in. Airport police don't dig people in cars waiting around in the pick-up areas, but it only takes a couple minutes to get there from around the airport.

It being game day, I'll be easy to spot--look for the chick in the UCLA t-shirt.

Imperial Highway West. Left at California (a signal) Right onto Imperial Road (Embassy Suites will be at your left.) Go up and down a few hills, you will pass a dog park; you will hit a funeral home and a stop sign, that is Imperial Hill, look for flags, and benches and of course people...

How do folks.. yeah.. 310am and im still awake, seeing that its too late to sleep, i will be leaving my house here in the next hour and a half or so to head to Downtown San Diego, then board the first train of the morning. I'll sleep on the train and what not. So i will be in Downtown Los Angeles by 9am or so. So i'll be at the airport around 10am-11am.. depends on if i am going to get breakfast somewhere. Anyways i see Beach Cities Transit has a stop right in front of da hill so i will be taking that from the Los Angeles International Airport City Bus Center. Also, another tidbit of info for the south complex.. 25R is closed weekends for the new center taxiway construction, so most everyone that needs a long runway will depart off of 25L, traffic permitting. So i'll be there around 1030-1130am.. cya then folks.

Well, I'm probably the first one back from the meet, as I had to go take a look at an apartment around 2 PM.

Karina and I were glad to have met the following:

Nicksair, AA61Hvy, Superfly, N1120A, Saxdiva, Rjdxer, Charles79, MD90fan

Sorry if I forgot anyone, and sorry to those whom we missed.

We started out at Imperial Hill (my first time there - freaking great view of the southside takeoffs). We then migrated over to the In'n'Out and grabbed some lunch. Also checked out the view from the roof of The Parking Spot.

The rest were planning on having dinner at the Proud Bird tonight, I believe, so hope you all have fun.

I had a great time.

Matt D even made an appearance.

Vik-as I said if you need any tips regarding apartments, let me know.

What a fun day. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. Left IAH in the jumpseat of flt 495. The Cpt was nice enough to let me take some pics on the flight deck. I keep telling myself I will do some hiking in the Guadalupe Mountains one of these days.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3511.jpg

I think he said this was big bear lake?

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3518.jpg

Downtown LA while on the approach.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3528.jpg

On the taxi in I spotted some of our Delta Connection birds sitting at the gate.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3531.jpg

Saxdiva was nice enought to pick me up in her sporty little Z3. I'd always wanted to take a ride in one of those so the day was off to a fabulous start. We were a little ahead of schedule so she took me on a tour of the airport perimiter. I had somehow thought the airport backed up against the ocean but not so. A shame the road leading down the center of the field is now closed off for security but we ended up over by the In and Out place and the park next to it. I thought the faux police tape around the sign really said something!

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3536.jpg

Then it was off to Imperial Hill. What a great place to spot from. To bad IAH doesn't have any hills like this. Got my first look at the Virgin America paint scheme in person.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3543.jpg

Here came on of my favorites. The CO 757-300. Always fun to taxi in in the back of the airplane.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3556.jpg

And a pleasure meeting new folks at these meets which I have had the opportunity to do over the past year and a half. Matt D enthralled by one of our Delta Connection jets taking off.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3560.jpg

Some of us got hungry earlier than the rest so off, or back, to In and Out we went. The burgers are good but the fries need a little help. After lunch a stop on top of the parking garage was in order.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/DrHansZarkov/lax2007/CIMG3575.jpg

Left to right, Nicksair, Saxdiva, Vikkyvik, and his lady Karina. See Karina, when he says he's going out spotting, no worries! On the way off the roof, just where everyone would see it as they came out the door, if they had eyes in the back of their head that is......

And as the afternoon wore down and people had things to accomplish we got together for the group picture. I'm sure someone will post it. I know Saxdiva had already had to leave. But I thought the picture of the picture taker was just as important.

Ali I'm sure you took a great photo of all of us. Thanks to everyone for a great morning and afternoon. Superfly, Nicksair, AA61Hvy, and myself made it over to the Proud Bird and had a drink. I checked and seats were available on the 5 o'clock back to IAH so I decided to head on back home a few hours earlier than planned. Thanks again to Saxdive and AA61Hvy for transporting me around. I've always been into video a little more than stills so here's a few vids of the big boys coming into land at LAX. Bon Appetite!

Still dreaming aren't we? !!  Wink How much was it, $1800/day for the V8 Vantage, $3500/day for the Vanquish? Only to get stuck in stop-go LA traffic....

Cheers!

Charles

P.S. Next LA meet I'll open up my apt for a pre- or post-meet party. You'll enjoy this view:

The view from my apt...the best view in LA! This is a Cathay 744 landing.

Enjoyed the spotting at LAX, however after most of you guys went to the In-n-out, which I reached at around 3:30 where did you guys go?

Sorry I did not get to see any of you. I checked into the Raddison on Wednesday and spotted at In-N-Out all day Wednesday and Thursday. Friday morning I woke up feeling like shit, I made an attempt to go out and shoot with the intentions of meeting everyone that evening before my flight out. The wind completly sucked ass that day, In-N-Out was covered in dirt from the wind blowing so hard. I lasted maybe an hour before returning to my hotel and passing out for about 2 hours. Woke up and my head was so congested, throat was burning and I could not keep my nose from running. Spent the next 7 hours just sitting on the bed, dreading my flight out.
Where did everybody go?
