What a fun day. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. Left IAH
in the jumpseat of flt 495. The Cpt was nice enough to let me take some pics on the flight deck. I keep telling myself I will do some hiking in the Guadalupe Mountains one of these days.
I think he said this was big bear lake?
while on the approach.
On the taxi in I spotted some of our Delta Connection birds sitting at the gate.
Saxdiva was nice enought to pick me up in her sporty little Z3. I'd always wanted to take a ride in one of those so the day was off to a fabulous start. We were a little ahead of schedule so she took me on a tour of the airport perimiter. I had somehow thought the airport backed up against the ocean but not so. A shame the road leading down the center of the field is now closed off for security but we ended up over by the In and Out place and the park next to it. I thought the faux police tape around the sign really said something!
Then it was off to Imperial Hill. What a great place to spot from. To bad IAH
doesn't have any hills like this. Got my first look at the Virgin America paint scheme in person.
Here came on of my favorites. The CO
757-300. Always fun to taxi in in the back of the airplane.
And a pleasure meeting new folks at these meets which I have had the opportunity to do over the past year and a half. Matt D enthralled by one of our Delta Connection jets taking off.
Some of us got hungry earlier than the rest so off, or back, to In and Out we went. The burgers are good but the fries need a little help. After lunch a stop on top of the parking garage was in order.
Left to right, Nicksair, Saxdiva, Vikkyvik, and his lady Karina. See Karina, when he says he's going out spotting, no worries! On the way off the roof, just where everyone would see it as they came out the door, if they had eyes in the back of their head that is......
Here's a couple of autos you could have for say $200-$300 a day!
And as the afternoon wore down and people had things to accomplish we got together for the group picture. I'm sure someone will post it. I know Saxdiva had already had to leave. But I thought the picture of the picture taker was just as important.
Ali I'm sure you took a great photo of all of us. Thanks to everyone for a great morning and afternoon. Superfly, Nicksair, AA61Hvy, and myself made it over to the Proud Bird and had a drink. I checked and seats were available on the 5 o'clock back to IAH
so I decided to head on back home a few hours earlier than planned. Thanks again to Saxdive and AA61Hvy for transporting me around. I've always been into video a little more than stills so here's a few vids of the big boys coming into land at LAX
. Bon Appetite!
Warm winds blowing, heating blue skies, and a road that goes forever. I'm going to Texas!
