LAS Buffets And The Deuce Passes

Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:48 am

For those of you who don't know but still care, LogansGirl and I will be gettin' hitched in Vegas next week. We've got much planned out well in advance; staying at Luxor (Pyramid Spa Suite) and dinner after the big 10-minute ceremony will be at Andre's at the Monte Carlo. We were wondering about which buffets in the south strip area are the best deals and might not involve waiting a half hour or an hour to get into. We've read a number of reviews both on-line and in books, but it'd be nice to get some first-hand accounts from some A.netters.

Also: Can we buy day or multi-day passes to the Deuce, and, if so, where can you pick them up?

Thanks in advance...

Andre's at the Monte Carlo

Nice choice!

The Monte and - believe it or not - the Excal.

But then again -- not matter how nice and expensive -- buffets are human troughs.

For casual dining, try that 24 hour sit down cafe at the Monte. Surprisingly Delicious!

There should be machines sprinkled about for the $5 24 hour Douche pass. I think there is one in front of the MGM. Best - just buy one on board!  biggrin

Best Wishes!!

The M.G.M Grand Buffett is nice. I have no clue of the price as it is comped with my room when I stay there.

You have to eat at Nine Fine Irishmen at NYNY. Great food, I recommend the Fish and Chips there.

Could not tell you that one, I am used to stumbling drunk from one place to the other.

Congrats in Advance by the way my friend.

P.S Your sorry ass and the misses + the Rusty Grapefruit Spoon better be back out in LAS next March for our Meet.

At the "Wee Kirk O' the Heather" Chapel perhaps?

Congratulations. Enjoy sin city. I shall wave in a southerly direction.

Sounds good. I was wondering about that.

We will certainly do our best. It's our intention to be there, pending the real estate market here in BOS and how deeply in debt buying a house puts us.

Well, she is of Scottish descent, but no. Little Chapel of the Flowers.

First, congratulations!

I know you said south of the strip, but Rio's buffet is always a killer, one of the best in Vegas. They have 2; one regular ($23 per person), other seafood (also $23).

For south strip, I would go with New York New York (around $16-20 IIRC.)

I was just there this past weekend, very hot (105F), but its a dry hot, so be ready for it.  Smile

The Buffet at Bellagio is absolutely delicious and with six cuisines offered, it's extremely affordable.  drool

It probably won't be the traditional dates since they fall on Easter weekend next year. The dates will be up for discussion once the initial planning thread gets started (After a little coordination among the "ringleaders"). Personally, I'm liking sometime in April, as I have a special deal the Flamingo sent me a few months back (a few days after I booked at Harrah's for a trip in November) and the last period it's good for is in April. I would have used it for my trip in November, but the deal I got at Harrah's was pretty good.

Quoting CastleIsland (Thread starter):

Since you're going to be taking the Deuce, why not take in the buffet at Main Street Station up in Downtown Vegas? A few of us can also recommend the coffee shop @ Binion's as well.

The buffet at Harrah's, Flavors, the Buffet to me had a pretty good breakfast buffet (pricey, but I had a coupon for a few $ off of the buffet from the fun book they gave me at the Total Rewards desk @ Harrah's). Considering my only other buffet experiences in Vegas prior to that were at the Riv (overpriced and underwhelming both meals I ate there) and at Circus Circus (Let's say it was better than the Megadog the Westward Ho sold, but barely).

Passes for the Deuce come in 24 hours and 30 day lengths.

I heard good things about the Paris buffet from a friend who visited recently.

NYNY is the only major Hotel Casino on the Strip that does not have a buffet.

Congratulations!

I think I remember Palace station (off-strip) being well above-average as buffets went. Regardless of where you end up, have fun!

Could've sworn they had one, maybe I got mixed up with the Bellagio. Either case, my bad.

Thanks for all the advice/recommendations. Now we've got to figure out how to make it to all these places without 1) exploding, and 2) breaking the bank...

Negative on that one. No need, though, we'll be in Vegas...  Wink

My favourite buffet in LV is at Paris, and if you're in the mood for something upscale at some point Craftsteak at MGM Grand is awesome.

And if you're not from CA/NV/AZ and don't get to go there regularly, don't forget In-N-Out! mmmmmmm........

Congrats to the both of you!

Wynn for the combination of setting and food...but pricey!

Bellagio is good also, but surprisingly, atmosphere's not as good.

Paris is my choice for the best of the three, taking into consideration food, price and atmosphere. Has good "French" food (the LV approximation anyway), and probably closest to where you are staying.

We were wondering about which buffets

Hey,

We went to 5 buffets and found the Paris Buffet to be the best certainly not the cheapest but by far the best. Heaps and heaps of food and very fresh.

The Luxor's and MGM werent too bad either. The Bellaigo was shit for the price half of what Paris had for a similar price.

go to the Downtown Transportation Center (DTC) or because you are closer, just go to the South Strip Transfer Terminal (SSTT) and buy your passes there. or go to the stop in front of the Luxor and pay $2.00 and yes, for $5 you can get a day pass, (id recommend the 2nd choice). the Deuce goes to both centers, but SST is closer. let me know if you need any other help...

I has been to LAS 4 times. I bascially eat almost every restaurant and buffets on strips. I had breakfast buffet at Luxor and Excibular, they are so delicious. I recently had lunch buffeft at Golden Nugget, they are good as they recently remodel and upgrade inside of hotel and buffet. I ate dinner at Paris, and Emril's at MGM. I also had some fast food on strip due we want to save our money.

Again, Congratulation on your coming up wedding.

IMO, just about any buffet in Las Vegas is great. Avoid smaller buffets though like Tropicana's and Sahara's. Those two definitely are my least favorite. But anyway, as you can see, you can just about be pleased with anywhere suggested above. I was at Mandalay Bay on Sunday and Monday and thought their buffet was excellent.

I don't remember which hotel we had the buffet at last time I was there....I don't even remember which hotel we stayed at (that's a good sign, right?  Smile )

But I just wanted to chime in and say congrats. It was great meeting you two at the BOS meet. I may be moving to LA at the end of September, so anytime before that, drinks are on me.
