Malicious And Slanderous Posting
I visit a web site dealing with sports, out of the blue, someone posts a message calling me a pervert who should stay away from high school girls who use a part of our facility. Anyone know of a web site that investigates this kind of behavior, besides the forum administrator? If it was A.Net, the post would have deleted and the poster banned, so, I do not want to notify him, I should not have to. What I want to do is find out who this poster is, I intend to take legal action.

Good luck. Privacy laws will prevent the site owner from revealing that information unless under warrant in most cases.
Besides, it's just the internet. You expose yourself to things like that any time you post. My advice.... forget about it.

Call him out on it in bold letters in front of the rest of the viewing members/visitors. Demand proof - tell him to come strong or continue looking stupid. Anyone who knows that person will have a lower level of respect (if any), and that's about as far as you can go.

Trouble is, you then would like as not have the local paper running a story headlined "local sports administrator denies paedophile allegation". Now, you could win a case easily, but the damage is well and truly done. Ignore it.

Who cares? I do. If the site was policed and all of its visitors did not know my true name, it would not be a problem. These are the type of allegations people love to believe. I have a life. This guy wants to make it miserable. You, too?

I don't know if you meant it that way but your post could be interpreted as a somewhat sarcastic statement. Are you chastising people you asked an opinion of because they told you the truth?

I understand. But Joseph would have to show he suffered some loss or was harmed in some way. That would be very hard to prove.

I did not ask for anyone to take sides on this. Read the thread starter. I asked for someone to guide me, not for sympathy or for right or wrong. I guess the answer here is, we are are at the mercy of the web masters. Thank you to all who replied.All I can do is imagine how it would be if someone on your job accused you of...
