Restroom Breaks For Professional Athletes.

Sat Oct 13, 2007 6:03 pm

Saturday's Stupid Thread

I took the day off from the airline and am home watching the Texas Longhorns play the Iowa State Cyclones.

UT is up 14 - 3 and for no apparent reason the Texas starter, Colt McCoy, isn't in an offensive series. The announcers, clueless usually, don't even pick up on the fact that the backup quarterback was inserted in the drive.

What if Colt just had to go?

I'd imagine it's the worse for football/soccer players. Forty-five minutes of uninterrupted play after drinking gallons of fluids to hydrate and prevent cramping.

Anyone else ever think about it?

I'm pretty sure that if Colt McCoy is a professional athlete, he is in violation of NCAA rules.

Good one, I thought Texas paid their players.  white

Been at a baseball game where a pitcher had to do his "business" and it delayed the start of the next inning. Gotta go when you have to go.

I played hoops in college. Unless you had the shits, you never had to go. All the sweat made the urge to piss go away.

And if you did have the shits, it was a postive. Smell like a sewer and no one would want to guard you.

In hockey you're back in the locker room at 40 minute intervals, so there usually never is an issue. We were playing against a team once who's goalie had the runs. It reeked all around the net, and late in the 2nd period the back of his pants were...multicolored. Big grin 3rd period he had on new ones. Almost felt sorry for the guy...

I have to admit I've never really given it any thought.

I also have to admit that I'm not likely to, either.  Silly

Makes me think of that one scene in "Slap Shot" where they were playing Hyannisport and one of the Hyannisport players (Brophy) is extremely drunk and tells Reg that if someone was to board him, he'd pee himself.

Actually in a way I am glad this thread came up.

The guys on the radio where discussing the demolition of Tigers stadium in Detrot. It was built in 1912 and is considered baseball holy ground.....which of course now has been replaced with a generic new stadium.

Apparently the city of Detroit is now selling off parts of the historic stadium such as the seats, signs ect and plumbing fixtures, to include LOT#48 the home ballpen urinal. It looks like the bidding period has ended. But you can stil get base anchors and Ballpen and bleacher seats.

It's a hot topic in tennis re: athletes using it as a strategic break, rather than a genuine need.

When I play beach volleyball, I just pee whenever I have the urge. When the game is over, I go jump in the ocean.

I just spent 4 hours at (American) Football training needing the loo. It was very hard taking hits whilst needing the toilet. My fault for drinking too much lucozade.

It's clear you have never been to Commerica Park. While its always hard to replace a stadium legend like Tiger Stadium, Commerica is far from generic. Perhaps you shouldn't make such broad based generalized statements without having some first hand knowledge...

You can always use the solution employed by British Marathon runner Paula Radcliffe in the London Marathon:

I don't try and hide it. The beach is a giant litter box and the ocean is a giant douche.

I cannot count how many times I have seen professional golfers run into the woods during the tournament and take a piss. I have only really seen it at tournaments I have attended, not on TV though.
