I read this yesterday and I just don't see the big fuss.
1 - It doesn't add anything to the storyline since the books are complete.
2 - It was never really mentioned in the book other than some brief mention of lost love and refer back to #1.
3 - Who caresif he's gay? Oh maybe some flat earth society morons but they already hated the book.
The only thing I saw that was a bit disturbing was the mention of so called "fan fiction" where people, excuse me...nerds, write their own liittle stories with the characters. It seems that Dumbledore has been the center of many wild gay sex stories just as Hermione (sic?) has been part of some crazy stories as well. Why can't folks just leave the books for what they are and not do all the other nerdy crap? It's a book, not a lifestyle choice.

and her next project is a book chronicalizing the backing stories of all the Harry Potter characters. why not start marketing it now with something scandalous and savvy ... it'll sell as many copies as the books did. that's another $200 million right there.

Personally, I think Albus Dumbledore never engaged in a gay relationship after his falling out with Gellert Grindelwald over the death of Albus' younger sister Ariana. In short, he may have been tolerent of gays, but from the time of Ariana's untimely passing to his own death he devoted his full-time life to Hogwarts, first as Transfiguration professor then as Headmaster.

Apparently she knew it all along. She passed a note to the director of one the movies who wanted to show Dumbledore with a girl.
I thinks it's a nice touch to the story. If you've read all seven books, you're sort of familiar with Dumbledore... when you then hear of his sexual orientation, it's like finding out about a distant aquaintance. "Oh he's gay? I never figured.. makes sense though".
Samson was a biblical tough guy, but his dad Samsonite was even more of a hard case.

I once dated a girl that was into this fan fiction crap. The stuff they could come up with! And it seems that 90% of the people who do this are middle aged women. My own observation was that they went crazy over taking hetro men and writing stories about them having sex with other men. They sell this crap at "fanzine" conventions, to other women naturally. And don't forget the "artwork" they create to go along with their stories!
Personally, I think it's kinda sick to write this kinda stuff. Why don't they just create new characters in their own heads to write these stories with instead of someone else's characters & stories?
