Quoting TZ757300 (Reply 1): What this guy with the rifle? |
Quoting L-188 (Reply 5): Thats a musket not a rifle. |
Quoting MD-90 (Reply 4): to only one year in jail for KILLING a boy? Even if it was an accident? For once I actually think his sentencing was too lenient. |
Quoting ZBBYLW (Reply 8): Thing is though, was he hunting? By the sounds of it, he was just taking a hike. |
Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 10): How does a woman leave her child in the car, during an August afternoon? How does a person buy hot coffee, place it between their legs, and act surprised when it spills on their crotch, and burns them? How does someone inject drugs into their system, knowing the deadly results? How does an old woman, driving with another old woman, drive up the off ramp of a highway, drive a mile in the wrong direction, and cause a fatal head-on collision with a mini-van, with a family on board? |

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 13): I guarantee you, there are people who posted in this thread who drove down the road while talking on their cell phone, or eating a meal, shaving, reading, etc... even though they knew these activities dramatically increased the odds of getting into an accident, and even potentially killing someone. |
Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 13): You're thread title was ignorant. It should not be why are hunters so stupid, but why is this guy so stupid. |
Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 13): You've offered zero statistical data on the prevalence of hunting accidents, instead you made personal assumptions. |
Quoting Continental (Thread starter): how can some hunters be so damn stupid? |
Quoting Airfoilsguy (Reply 19): The guy was probably drunk. |
Quoting MD-90 (Reply 4): He was sentenced to only one year in jail for KILLING a boy? Even if it was an accident? For once I actually think his sentencing was too lenient. |
Quoting Continental (Reply 18): That's for 2007, and although there was one fatality (which is extremely unfortunate), you can see there are a few non-fatal incidents as well. |
Quoting Continental (Reply 18): But multitasking while driving is extremely common and is done all the time without any consequences. While hunting, the only tasks are to be quiet and shoot. You're essentially concentrated on one thing, and that's the thing you're shooting at. |
Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 22): 1 fatality and less than 20 incidents for thousands of people hunting? Pretty damn good safety record. |
Quoting Continental (Reply 24): Besides, that 2007 report was only from Jan. 1 2007 until Jan. 24 2007. That does not include deaths that have occurred up until now, November 21, 2007. |
Quoting MDorBust (Reply 25): Between Feb 2007 and Oct 2007 there weren't any open hunting seasons, thus it was unlikely there would be a substantial amount of accidents. There may have been some involved in non-game animal hunting... but offseason hunters are far less likely to be involved in incidents than seasonal hunters. Data for this years seasons which started in Oct is unlikely to be published yet. |

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 27): As MD pointed out, the existence of hunting seasons. |
Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 27): Regardless, I gave you 39 years of data from our 2nd largest, most gun prolific, state. Indicating an overwhelmingly positive safety record. |
Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 27): So to answer your question... maybe people up in Minnesota are more stupid, and idiotic, than people down in Texas. |
