Your Vehicles Petrol/gas Tank, How Much To Fill?

This issue got me thinking. I usually fill up my cars petrol tank every 2 weeks. Last time I filled it up was on November 16th. Since then my car has been parked up at home each day except yesterday and today, as I've used my motorbike to get to/from work. My car, a Mitsubishi Galant costs me around $75-$80 (with 15 cents off petrol vouchers), but without petrol vouchers, it would cost me $85-$90, and it gets me around 600+kms. My bike costs me less then $10 to fill and it gets me around 250-300kms. Petrol that my car and bike uses (unleaded 91) is $1.73 per litre

How much does it cost you to fill your car, van, truck, motorbike etc?

Our car tops off at about 35 litres, but we usually fill the car up when it still has plenty of petrol, so at most we fill about 30 litres. At current prices, it's roughly CRC15900, which is US$30.50 or €20.70.

That will get me just shy of 400 miles.

I rarely go below half a tank on either of my vehicles, so I'm making educated guesses here:

Just dropped $70 to fill the tank on my truck, put 23 gallons in a 24.5 gallon tank!

Usually I do it weekly, and it only takes about 18 gallons, the Thanksgiving holiday and the four days I was out of town threw that older schedual off.

The most I've been able to squeeze into Bug's tiny tank is 10 gal, which today cost me $31. I get about 25ish mpg on a good day. Not the longest range either.

I normally keep the Fuel tanks of all my vehicles [Bike & cars] between 3/4 th to Full at all times.

Remember to fill your car up when it's cold so the density is higher and you get more mass.

The thermal coefficient of expansion of gasoline/unleaded petrol is about 0.00095 / deg C. So if the pumps are calibrated at 20 deg C and the temperature of the fuel in the ground is 0 deg C, when you ask for 1L at the pump you actually get 1+1*0.00095*20 = 1.02L, or 2% more fuel.

2007 rabbit, 55L tank. if i let it get really low, it costs about $55+ to fill. usually lasts 2-3 weeks as i live fairly close to work. it used to last 3 weeks or more, but i switched jobs and this is a tad further away.

47 litre fuel tank, which is 12USG. It costs me just over Ã‚Â£1 per litre to fill, so Ã‚Â£4 per USGallon, or approximately $8 per US Gallon; $96 per fill.

Filled up the other day from almost empty and it cost me about NZ$102. Fuel was $1.82 a litre! After a few trips to wellington for work its almost empty again, ouch! Sad

Recently it has been about $40/tank. Living In New Jersey, USA, the local prices recently have been about $2.89 - 2.95/gallon (US $ 0.75/Ltr.), and includes attendant service (self-serve not allowed in NJ). Typically I fill up when it gets to 1/4 left in the tank and/or about every 300 miles in mixed suburban driving. That is about 14 gallons/55.6 liters and about 21 to 22 MPG (9 Kms/Liter). I drive a Mazda 6 (Atenza) with a V-6 engine and 6 speed Auto trans. I almost always use a credit card to take advantage of points programs and so don't empty the wallet with a tank.

Since gas stations are fairly plentiful around here I run my tanks pretty low before I fill them back up when I am just doing my normal commuting. When I am travelling (especially pulling the travel trailer) I don't go much below 1/4 tank before I refill.

My Impala costs about $40-$45 to fill up. (15.7 gallon tank, about 400 miles around town, 520 out on the road)
My F-150 4x4 costs about $70 to fill up. (25 gallon tank, about 350 miles by itself, 200 pulling the travel trailer)
My F-150 4x2 maxes out the approval on the credit card at $75 every time. (30 gallon tank, about 500 miles)

My 2007 Volvo C30 fills up with $450 pesos (about 45 usd), and last like 10 days. The only gas station here is Pemex. I always use "Premium", the 92 octane fuel.

I was surprised to find out that gasoline is cheaper in Mexico than in the US.

Currently in central Iowa E-10 (10 per cent ethanol) is selling for $2.71 per gallon here. Filling up the Dragon Lady's Mazda MPV with the 3 liter V6 (a lovely power unit) usually runs about $26-28 and it gets about 18 mpg. My Mitsubishi pickup (1987 2 liter standard transmission) gets about 24-25 mpg and it costs about $22 to fill it up.

One of our colleagues advises filling up when the weather's cold and you get the benefit of the coefficient of expansion. That's more than offset by the fact that when the weather's cold you use more fuel.

Working from home saves a lot on the commuting budget. I wonder how much gas the country could save if everyone who could telecommute did?

My Honda Civic Hybrid costs about $14 to fill up from a half a tank, so approximately $28 gallons for a full fill-up. 13 gallon tank, 45-55mpg.

It has a 60 litre tank, so at current prices around £58 (or $120).

a 300 mile motorway trip (which i drive often on the same route) costs me about £45 ($95-100).

Diesel tank, 20 litres, this summer it was around $16 filling it with biodiesel at a truck stop...right now it is around $22 filling it at a sunoco. fill it maybe once every 3 weeks gatting about 700-750km out of it

2001 Ford F-150 4x4, V8, 25 gallon fuel tank.

12-14 mpg. I never let it get below 1/2 a tank to avoid sticker-shock. Gas right now is $2.80 p/gallon. I drive between 250-300 miles per week among the three jobs that I currently hold. The last fill-up from 1/2 was $37.50, do the math.

$75.00, $80.00 per tank every ten days.

That's not an option for those of us who live in subtropical or tropical regions, because either way, there will be lots of heat everywhere. And if it's cold, then there may be some excess heat that affects this.

Actually that isn't that bad of a guess.

I have a 52 mile round trip to work every day, so four a 5 day workweek that is about right. There are a couple of side trips though so I am probably more in the 16-17 MPG range. I am running a V-6 for good milage, but I do loose a couple of ticks becuase it is a 4WD and they generally aren't as thrifty as 2wd trucks.

I do notice that when I have my winter tires on, my milage does go down, but I haven't done the math to figure out by how much.

Got a 14.5 gallon tank in my 07 Sentra 2.0S, but I can rarely put 13.5 gallons into it. At current prices, it'd be $42 to fill. Gas mileage-wise, I'm supposed to get 29 city/34 hwy, but I rarely average 28 doing mostly non-highway driving, for about 375 miles to the tank.

BMW 320d, 60 litre tank, at ZAR 7.20 a litre for low sulphur diesel it takes ZAR 432.00. That is EUR 43.44 or USD 63.60 or GBP 30.93. The price is going up 55 cents a litre on Wednesday.

To fill my cat a BA FAlcon with a 60 litre tank at $1.53 ( fuel is expensive in the NT) would cost AU$91.80 and I do this twice a week as I normally do around 1200 km per week due to work. Thankfully I have a company fuel card so it cost me $0.00

It costs me about 56-57 euros to fill my 55lt tank. These days I only fill it up at petrol stations that have a per litre price below 1 euro.

He is in Mexico so probably at a high elevation AMSL. In Johannesburg (5,500ft) our regular is 87, premium is 92, premium plus is 95, while you can buy higher octane at the coast. High octane at high elevation doesn't provide good economy or reliability.

Really Expensive in UK now. Have a Fiat Punto. Not sure on tank size but costs £40 (approx $80) to fill up. Fuel is now over £1 ($2) per litre!!

I filled mine up with diesel the other day (60 L tank) after the fuel warning light came on, and it was £55 (~$110 USD). Diesel is approx £1.05 / L at the moment here. That would get me aprox. 500 miles and last 2-3 weeks depending on what I have on at work. It's rather expensive here in England these days. I remember when filling the same sized tank was £35, and it's not that long ago.
