City Quiz

Wed Dec 12, 2007 3:30 pm

It's the silly season, and there are FAR to many serious threads on here! In the same spirt as the Airport Quiz in Civil Av, here's a city photo quiz.

And please join in, but don't post pics that are too obscure to be anywhere: they should have some sort of identifying clue. These five shouldn't be too hard. There are three capital cities and two commercially important cities in their respective countries, and all pics are pretty central.

Even without the tram I would have recognised it instantly. I can see where you've blanked out "Arnotts" on the left. But I did get it wrong: it's actually Middle Abbey St, which becomes Mary St. right behind where you took the pic!

I forgot to add in the second set of pics I posted: two are capital cities, and one is its country's most populous city.

Hmmmm . . . still not showing here for some reason.

No 1 looks like Zurich. I'm a bit mixed-up here as No 4 in your first post was Alexandria, and that most certainly isn't Alexandria in No 4 on your second post.

I'm intrigued by No 4, but I assume it's in Switzerland, going by the white cross on the red planes.

I'm surprised no-one has got the second pic in my first post. It's a city that's much more significant than its size would suggest:

Nr
1 = ZURICH
2 = TUNIS
3 = SCHAFFHAUSEN
4 = ALEXANDRIA
5 = LUGANO
6 = GENEVA
-
The waterfall under nr 3 is the RHEINFALL just slightly out of the town in the suburb of Neuhausen. Schaffhausen is just some 35kms north of ZRH-Apt, and can be recommended for a visit
-
Lugano is the major town in Italian speaking Switzerland (Ticino) some 200 kms south of Zurich, some 40- 50 kms northeast of Milano-Malpensa-Airport .
-
My second post only was about towns and cities NOT recognized on here
