The word "awesome" is overused but that thing is truly worthy of awe! Stick a beer can or a Hot Wheel in it and show us a picture of what it can do.
That trailer looks like gross overkill (I'm counting a minimum of 68 wheels) for "only" 50,000lb though. Hell, I've seen oilfield trucks around here carry nearly that much on a normal flatbed. I'm guessing it has some other assembly preattached to it making it weigh substantially more for the trip.
Try not to wake up the neighbors, OK?

The ram is what weighs 50,000 lbs (the rectangle over the fire), the entire hammer weighs much more. The part you can see is only the tip of the iceburg. What it sits on is what weighs so much. Directly under the hammer is an anvil. This is a large block of steel that weighs about 200,000 to 300,000 lbs. Under that are two bases that weigh about 300,000 to 500,000 lbs. To transport all this will take a few of the above pictured trucks.

We already have 2 30,000 lb hammers and a bunch of smaller hammers. The neighbors already hate us.
My dad lives on a golf course about 5 miles away, when I visit, if the wind blows right, I can tell you what job is running by the hammer blow pattern.

Forgings, anywhere from 10 lbs up to 2500 lbs. Some of the parts we make are;
Landing gear for 737, 757, 747, Hercules
Torque tubes (break hubs) same as above
Railroad car parts like equalizers
Large blades for industrial gas turbines
Disks for jet engines (what the blades are attached to)
Gas valves (Haliburton)
Large gears for Caterpillar
ECT..

To give you guys some idea of how big the underground anvils can get
here is the part you see above that the hammer hits
And heres the hole that is left after the anvil is taken out.
They removed some big presses out of my dads old shop a few years ago. Some of them were easily bigger than a house.

Great pics, thanks for posting them! I am always amazed at how those drivers can negotiate such small spaces and that truck is cool! The damned thing is a bridge with wheels!

The DOT sets a maximum weight per axle that is why there are so many. That is one of the reasons why Tractor Trailers have so many.
