The Tell Us About Your Signature Thread

Wed Dec 26, 2007 4:44 am

Welcome to another tell us about your signature thread. Well just as the topic states, whats the story behind your signature that appears at the bottom on your posts. My signature is about three youtube movies thats in my profile. The first two movies are made up of pictures about when I was working as a childrens summer camp counselor in Michigan last year (2006) and this year (2007). Each years movie is made up from a selection of around 800+ photos/movies I took from both years camps. The third movie is an advert that has screened around the world, advertising the country, which I'm very proud to call home.

Just about captain Hayes of UA 232. Just 4 pilots doing what they are trained and supposed to do. Which so true. Sure the men of the flight crew were heros but they were all just doing there job.

I love to say "Blasphemy". I basically say it everyday when I talk to people who have never heard of someone they should have heard of at least once in their life time. For instance, I had a friend last semester who said she'd never heard of Bob Marley before.  Wow! The N- registrations are of my last flights on 757s. And for the last, I love quoting Dave Chappelle, and this is the only one that isn't that offensive that I could think of..

I fly on Air Southwest a lot, but recently it seems that every other flight has been on G-WOWD which I've now flown 12 times and although I have flown G-WOWB the most overall at 17 times, it's been in their fleet a lot longer than D has! Now I'm not terribly superstitious, but took the train rather than another flight earlier this year, just in case I got D again, because it would have been a bit of an omen to have flown D again, following this in my log book;

03.05.2007 ... BRS-PLH ... Air Southwest ... DHC 8-311 ... G-WOWD
08.05.2007 ... PLH-BRS ... Air Southwest ... DHC 8-311 ... G-WOWE
16.05.2007 ... BRS-PLH ... Air Southwest ... DHC 8-311 ... G-WOWA

G-WOW I'm dead  silly

Mine is a quote from one of my friends who flies for GT (British Airways Easyjet). He was holding short of 08R at LGW when the Tower told him to Line Up and wait after the landing Embraer. He was expecting an EMB145 rather than a 195, and so mistook it for a 757 initially... So I just like to remind him of this as often as possible!  biggrin

I have a friend of mine who's quite a talented guitar player, when we'd get together and hang out he'd play me the new songs he was learning, while most of them were quite good and instantly recognizable, one sounded like the song was being mangled, so i said to myself "that song sounds like the bells of st mary on LSD"

mine came from a hard and frustrating day of work...The captain and purser of my flight were saying that they needed to rush to the hotel, so they could enjoy their beer before they couldn't drink anymore for the night, and as I grabbed my rollaboard I just said "I could use a beer and 5 other sins"

As for my quote... It is from a quote on TWA accepting their MD95s quoted in an Airways Magazine... Since TWA launched the DC-1 (DC-2), and effectively the DC-3, and they ordered Douglas's LAST design, even though they skipped the DC-6 and DC-7 (IIRC, the DC-4 as well), They began and ended with Douglas.

I just changed my signature to match that which I use elsewhere on the net. The old one was "Veritas Vicit Omnia...sometimes." Translated it reads "Truth Conquers All...sometimes." Veritas Vicit Omnia is the motto of my high school-Notre Dame High School, Chattanooga, TN.

My current signature is a quote from Conductor Nimrod Bell's autobiography, written in 1896. Conductor Bell is the only railroader that is known of who worked on southern railroads from approximately 1850 to sometime between 1894 and 1896 who left a fairly detailed, written account of his experiences operating trains during the Civil War and the living situation of most southerners during that time.
"When a man runs on railroads over half of his lifetime he is fit for nothing else-and at times he don't know that."

Pet peeves are the reason behind my signature. When you have spell check, there's no excuse. Look more than a few threads down a page before starting a new topic. You'll see that the subject is already under discussion.
