Funny Web Error Messages That You've Seen?

I was using an old saved link to a newspaper page and instead of the typical "Not Found" text, they had the following:
Sorry, but the page you were hunting for could not be found. We've looked all around and - trust us here - we just could not find it. But, then again, we have a sprawling site with loads of content, which makes for lots of nooks and crannies.

It just amused me enough to wonder what other similar things you've seen recently...

I saw one, I can't remember where. It was a simple 404 Error but the message was "Congratulations, you broke the internet you idiot."

I have a friend in the UK who is a programmer and in one application, for a really obscure and once-in-a-century error he made a screen that said "Well fuck my old boots, that didn't work".

A year or so later, at a job interview, he was asked "Do you still use profanities as error messages?"

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

It gets me everytime  Smile

I recently had one telling me "This is error page!" I admit I did wonder whether the correct reply would have to be "Good to hear from you!"

Nobody ever realises just how small the IT world is until you work in it!

"An error occured while attempting to generate the error message" is a personal favourite...

for website not found errors i once saw something along the line of:

"Its great youve finally decided to dive in and go with the flow, sadly while you were waiting things moved on a bit, and the page you requested is no longer here."

Ive seen, and done, similar.

"If your seeing this message, then i havent a clue whats gone wrong!" is one I remember making....

I believe in unix systems there is a "You do not exist - go away" error which can occur if the user database gets corrupted...

Back in my first job as a COBOL programmer (1978+-), I recall seeing a fatal error paragraph named "Hell", thus being used as via a "Go To Hell" stmt...and a comment note in that modules said something like "This program has no apparent logic to it so any changes should follow suit"...

In one of the internal web services applications I'm responsible for (it does all sorts of just plain nasty stuff with Active Directory) theres a certain condition where I needed to throw an error message but couldn't think of anything that would make sense to our less technical folks. I finally settled on

"Please seek help." (with no other text)

A couple years ago on United's website, trying to book a flight from LAX to LAX with a stop in SNA, (same flight number for both flights even!) I got this (this is from memory, so it could be a little off)

UNITED AIRLINES
You should never, ever, see this error message.
If you do, please call Eric [last name] at [phone number] extension [extension].

From this very site

"Our forum is currently down, it will be up again in a few minutes. Take this opportunity to pour yourself a nice cup of coffee or tea!"
