Quoting AA61Hvy (Reply 5): I think they have since changed it back to The Ballpark... |
They now call it Rangers Ballpark at Arlington
Technically, it is Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Camden Yards is the nearby train yards and station.
Quoting FlyDeltaJets87 (Reply 6): Seems like it's some of the oldest teams that have refused to sell out the naming rights on their fields. |
Well, in the case of Shea and Yankee Stadiums, the teams really don't control the name of the park, because they are owned by the CIty of New York. Same with Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which is owned by
MD. The others are team owned and owned by teams with very long histories in the ballparks and no real need to pull in incremental revenue at the expense of pissing off a whole lot of fans.
Quoting KROC (Reply 8): The Mets new yard next year will be Citi Field. |
In the grand scheme of naming rights, that is actually a pretty good one, seeing how often the colloquial "The City" is used for New York. It works in a way similar to the way Great Western Forum worked.
Quoting Dougloid (Reply 14): Nobody will remember what happened at Enron Field, whether it is Enron Field or something else. |
They probably wont remember that it was renamed Minute Maid Park either

Quoting DavestanKSAN (Reply 15): Same thing happened out here when they changed the name of our stadium from Jack Murphy Stadium |
Funny thing about the Murph is that most people, even in San Diego, probably have no clue who Jack Murphy was.
