Whopper Or Big Mac?

Tue Jan 29, 2008 12:31 am

For me it has to be a Whopper with cheese hands down, filling and tasty at the same time. Long live Burger King!

What is it to be?

Burger King tastes disgusting here in Costa Rica, hence my choice is the Big Mac.

Big Mac 1
Whopper 2

I like the Whopper when it comes to burgers.

When in comes to fries Mc Donalds wins over Burger King.

But neither compare to In-N-Out Burger.

Whopper. I generally don't like McD's burgers at all. Their chicken sandwiches are fine.

I really like Wendy's when it comes to options, too.

I used to be unable to eat In-N-Out without getting sick, but I overcame that in AZ. Their burgers are the best, but I hate the fries.

Amen, bro! I have been to McDonalds once in the last five years. When I go to Burger King, I get chicken. I am not really into burgers. Jack In The Box has a good menu and good salads. When I choose, I go either Mexican, Asian, or sandwich/salad place.

The Whopper by a long way. I actually had a Big Mac for dinner tonight though, well two actually, and neither tasted of anything at all really, the most flavoursome ingredient was the dill pickle. Basically I had a buy one get one free coupon, was chocked up with coursework so no time to cook and decided to grab a burger instead, the first time in 11 years that I've eaten at McDonalds! It was though better than Jollibee though, a Filipino chain of fast food joints where I ate once or twice, God knows what went into those meals  yuck

Not sure, as I haven't had either one for over 10 years.

But if smell is anything to go by, those people toting BK Whoppers aboard smell less offensive than McD's. (the food not the people)  Wink

Neither. Give me a Velvet Hammer or Shroomin' Cow from Lindy's on 4th. I'll only eat McD or Burger King Corporation if there is no local alternative. I say Burger King Corporation as that is the company's proper name-distinguishes them from the original Burger King (founded by Gene Hoots) which is located in Mattoon, Illinois. There was a famous trademark lawsuit in the 1960s involving the owners of the original Burger King and Burger King Corporation. The original Burger King was incorporated in the late 1950s and the trademark patented, but only in the State of Illinois (their attorney screwed up). When Burger King Corporation started doing business in Illinois using their trademark, the owners sued. The United States District Court ended up ruling that the Burger King Corporation's federal trademark superseded the rights of Mr. Hoots' state trademark. However, the District Court also ruled that Burger King Corporation could not interfere with the right of Mr. Hoots or his restaurant, dba Burger King since his state trademark was registered before Burger King Corporation's federal trademark. The District Court also ruled that Burger King Corporation cannot operate any stores or associated businesses under the Burger King trademark within a twenty mile radius of Mr. Hoots' Burger King restaurant in Mattoon, Illinois.

I think 1999 was the last time I went to a Burger King and they got my order right. I'd vote for the Whopper if I actually got it my way....

All of the Burger Kings in my area have gone down the tube in the past few years.

Here in Costa Rica it's the same. First they switch from Coca Cola to Pepsi, then the meat patties taste all dry, like warmed up in a microwave and horrible, and one time I tried the stacker, it tasted as if the top half of the bun actually had strawberry jam on it.

I used to be crazy about the Whopper and Burger King was reason for my irrational hate of McDonald's, but now Burger King has gone down the toilet and McDonald's has become an acquired taste again.

If it is Whaopper vs. Big MAc, my answer is neither. Both are not my favourites sandwiches from BK or McD.

At BK I prefer the Bacon Double Cheeseburger, but it is not offered in every country. Even better if it comes as a BBQ Bacon Double Cheeseburger (at least they were sold that way in 1993 in Singapore).

At McD I go for Filet-O-Fish (Fish Mac in Germany) but the quality of that sauce varies from country to country.
Alternative is a Double Cheeseburger or some ´burger with chicken.

While I try to stay away from either chain (for health reasons), here is my rating:

U.S. / UK / Espana: BK
Germany / The Netherlands: McD (they have the better salads[Germany])

Neither for me.

If I were to have a burger, I would have to choose either White Spot (I haven't been to one in a long time), Burger Inn (a quaint little place off of 4th Street here in Calgary) or Peter's burgers.

All three of these places may be slightly more expensive than McDonald's or Burger King, but they're actually quality burgers. Plus, Burger Inn uses Kobe Beef. That burger has to be the best I've ever tried!

So, for anyone who lives, works or wants to come to Calgary, may I suggest Peter's off of 16th Avenue (Trans-Canada Highway) or Burger Inn off of 4th St.

Cheers,

Between the Big Mac and Whopper, the Whopper hands down for me. Now, the Big N' Tasty from McDonalds in Germany is by far the best burger McDonalds has (other than the McRib), but still, not nearly as good as a Whopper.

I never would have thought that the Whopper was so extremely popular!

Me, I go to these only once a month.

I am lucky, we have a Burger King right next door to a McDonalds.

I get the Whopper to go, and then stop at McDonalds to get my fries and home I go to eat.

Burger King has horrible french fries.

Neither. I don't like mayonnaise (as on a Whopper) or 'secret sauce' on a Big Mac. I would rather go to Wendy's for their single with cheese, no mayo. If I am at McD's I would tend to go for the Qtr. pounder, the Angus Burger (1/3 Lb.) with bacon and cheese or the value item Double Cheeseburger. Of at BK, then the double stacker.

If you want a big burger. The biggest one I ever came across was in Valladolid in Spain in a fast-food place called Hamburguesas Gigantes. It was like a pizza and cut into slices. 3 of us shared one. I felt so sick afterwards.
