Your Passport Stamps

Sat Feb 09, 2008 4:51 am

I know this has been done before, but not for a little while. I'm sure people will have lots more by now! Try to enter the location, method of entry, etc.

Here's my list, in chronological order:

  • Germany - Entering - Frankfurt am Main - Air - 02.08.05
  • Germany - Leaving - Frankfurt am Main - Air - 21.08.05
  • Austria - Entering - Wien Schwechat - Air - 25.01.07
  • Czech Republic - Entering - Dolní Dvořiště - Auto - 23.02.07
  • Slovenia - Entering - Maribor - Rail - 10.03.07
  • Austria - Entering - Spielfeld - Rail - 10.03.07
  • Austria - Leaving - Linz Hörsching - Air - 18.03.07
  • United Kingdom - Entering - Stansted - Air - 18.03.07
  • Austria - Entering - Linz Hörsching - Air - 25.03.07
  • Austria - Leaving - Salzburg - Air - 31.03.07
  • United Kingdom - Entering - Southampton - Air - 31.03.07
  • Austria - Entering - Salzburg - Air - 07.04.07
  • Austria - Leaving - Summerau - Rail - 30.04.07
  • Czech Republic - Entering - Horní Dvořiště - Rail - 30.04.07
  • Czech Republic - Leaving - Horní Dvořiště - Rail - 01.05.07
  • Austria - Entering - Summerau - Rail - 01.05.07
  • Austria - Leaving - Nickelsdorf - Rail - 19.05.07
  • Hungary - Entering - Hegyeshalom - Rail - 19.05.07
  • Hungary - Leaving - Budapest - Rail - 20.05.07
  • Austria - Entering - Nickelsdorf - Rail - 20.05.07
  • Austria - Entering - Unknown - Rail - 23.06.07
  • Mexico - Entering - Quintana Roo - Air - 28.12.07

I also have one Visa, for Austria, issued at the Austrian Embassy in Ottawa.

If anyone could help me out, I'd like to know the location for my second last stamp. It is illegible. I remember that it was stamped by an Austrian official while the train was sitting at the train station in Petrzalka, Slovakia. The Slovakian guy never stamped my passport. I think the first stop WITHIN Austria was Bruck an der Leitha, but I'm really not sure. Anyone who knows, I would really appreciate it!

My South African passport only has JNB exit and entry stamps in it, because when I am travelling I use my British passport. That one has 2 in, Dubai and New York about 2 weeks apart. Travelling within Europe they don't stamp it.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

I've just had to change my passport because it was full and I had no more space to stick yet another visa on it...  headache

Fortunately since it still had 5 years of validity the renewal is free...!

Arrive ORD 26th July 2004

Arrive FCO 27th August 2006

As a European I don't get stamps from European countries (some exceptions).

Visas for:

India x2 (2 full pages), Laos (full page), Cambodia (full page), Egpyt 2x (2x postage stamp-size per visa)

Stamps for:

Mexico x3
Guatemala x1
India x3
Sri Lanka x2
Hong Kong x2
Singapore x6
Egypt 4x
Thai x6
Laos x2
Malaysia x6
Macau x2
Cambodia x2
Croatia x1 (I oddly got this stamp. I didn't even get a BiH stamp.)
USA x2
Panama x2
Costa Rica x1
Nigaragua x1

Alas, didn't get a Honduran stamp due to their special trio thing.

Back to the USA next Fri.

I know how you feel there, mine was issued in 2004 and I have short dark hair in the photo, whereas now my hair is about 18 inches long and halfway down my back! Last time I came home through LHR the immigration officer even asked me for a second form of identification!

NOTE: I was an employee of British Airways, so everytime I transferred LHR, I would have to enter the country to collect my bags and recheck in, so that's the explanation for all my UK stamps. I haven't actually visited the UK that much. Most of them are just in transit.

I don't have dates but have stamps. Some places didn't stamp because I was flying
inter-Schnegen
inter-UK
Switzerland didn't stamp.

But stamps:

UK-Heathrow-One giant no-work stamp for 6 months and then 4 re-entry
UK-Heathrow-In-transit
Ireland-Dublin-in
The Netherlands-Amsterdam-in
The Netherlands-Amsterdam-out
Italy-Rome FCO-in
Germany-Munich-in
Germany-Munich-out
Germany-Munich-in transit
USA-JFK-in

And these have a story. I went to Stockholm and then on trip home, at airport, things got changed. I had to re-enter and leave Sweden twice in a day.
Sweden-Stockholm-in
Sweden-Stockholm-out
Sweden-Stockholm in
Sweden-Stockholm out

Egypt day tourist visa, July 2004. That's it - the only time I've left Europe.

Hopefully I will have some money this year to leave this continent properly.

Ah, thank you very much! I do remember that the train went right through Kittsee (although I don't think we stopped).

Overall, crossing into and out of Slovakia was strange. On the way there we stopped at the border at some run down Austrian station (on the direct line between the Suedbahnhof and Bratislava), and I was only checked by a Slovak guard... the Austrian one never came by. On the way back I took a different train through Petrzalka and Bruck an der Leitha to the Westbahnhof. I did get checked by the Austrian, but in Petrzalka. I regretted taking that train. I thought it would be better to go to the Westbahnhof (I had to connect to Linz), but it ended up going through Burgenland and took way longer. Oh well...

Anyways... vielen Dank! Liebe Gruesse aus Kanada!

My older passport is more interesting with Liechtenstein and several from little strange-named European border towns. This current one of mine ain't too exciting...

Canada (Toronto)
UK (Heathrow)
Germany (Frankfurt)
UK (Stansted)

For some reason the Spanish never gave me an EU exit stamp, the Swiss didn't stamp me either in or out, nor did I get a Canada entry stamp on my return. But I should be spicing it up with some rad ones this summer from Bulgaria and Turkey!

I've heard if you walk across the border from California to Tijuana (Mexico... kinda) you can find the little customs shed and can get a stamp there... any SoCal people know if that's true? If so, I might just have to make a border run for a stamp and some tequila the next time I'm in SD!  Silly

Anybody have any photo links to their interesting stamps/visas?

Unfortunately I don't have any stamps in my new passport yet, but in my old passport I had/have stamps from the following border stations:

Kunowice, Poland
Swinoujscie, Poland
Szczecin Gumience, Poland
Kostrzyn, Poland
Gyekenyes, Hungary
Salgotarjan, Hungary
Chalupki, Poland
Györ, Hungary
Dobova, Slovenia
Miedzylesie, Poland
Zgorzelec, Poland
Koprivnica, Croatia
Hidasnemeti, Hungary
Zasieki, Poland
Gubin, Poland
Kelebia, Hungary
Zwardon, Poland
Gdansk Nowy Port, Poland
Fertöd, Hungary
Lupkow, Poland
Rajka, Hungary
Szob, Hungary
Savski Marof, Croatia
Rusovce, Slovakia
Petrzalka, Slovakia
Palota, Slovakia
Lanzhot, Czech Republic
Kuty, Slovakia
Plavec, Slovakia
Sturovo, Slovakia
Lichkov, Czech Republic
Vlarsky prusmyk, Czech Republic
Devinska Nova Ves, Slovakia
Horne Srnie, Slovakia
Mosty u Jablunkova, Czech Republic
Cana, Slovakia
Cadca, Slovakia
Filakovo, Slovakia

I also have a visa for Romania including entry/departure stamps.

The number of stamps in my passport, and the Romanian visa, sometimes puzzled border guards and passport police, especially in Germany on the Poland-Germany border checks. Being Scandinavian and being able to speak fluent German helped me a lot in these situations so I never really had problems, but sometimes they told me to wait while they checked the passport with extra scrutiny and I have also seen them leave with the passport to call headquarters...
