Pigs Up In Flames

Oh, how i laughed slightly at this story. This happened not far from my home town in the UK.

That's horrible.

But lord knows if that happened in the U.S., and police marksmen were called out to "put them out of their misery", you'd never hear the end of it.

Gee, not too much sympathy for injured animals here!

I'm curious (not trying to be a smart-ass).... if they need to call out armed police in the UK, how big a deal is it? I assume most police are still unarmed there, or is that obsolete thinking? Do UK police forces have ready access to weapons if necessary?
