Quoting Swiftski (Thread starter): Anyone brave enough to share experiences? |
Quoting Swiftski (Thread starter):
10 days till results. |
Quoting MaverickM11 (Reply 5): Why ten days for results? |
Quoting Fumanchewd (Reply 6): {door open for mean sexual putdowns of my manly self} |
Quoting Newark777 (Reply 7): Quoting Fumanchewd (Reply 6): {door open for mean sexual putdowns of my manly self} That's not necessary, there's nothing wrong with jerking off too much. |
Quoting Fumanchewd (Reply 8): I would often have to walk in circles for hours because of the overwhelming weight of one arm. |
Quoting Swiftski (Thread starter):
Just had my first test today |
Quoting Fumanchewd (Reply 8): I don't know about that. Back in my teenage years I would often have to walk in circles for hours because of the overwhelming weight of one arm. |
Quoting AsstChiefMark (Reply 2): I'll bet you're going to sleep well. |
Quoting Jpax (Reply 3): I practiced safe sex, of course, with that condom that has been in my wallet for years! |
Quoting MaverickM11 (Reply 4): Why ten days for results? |
Quoting Newark777 (Reply 5): It takes time to type up the details of all the diseases he has. |
Quoting Fumanchewd (Reply 6): Turns out it was just a callous from overuse |
Quoting UAL747 (Reply 10): It took 3 days for my results to come back and the time between the test and the results was agony. |
Quoting UAL747 (Reply 10): but as for HIV/AIDS, while a lot of advertisements try and scare you into testing, it's not a really easy disease to get. |
Quoting Swiftski (Reply 14): It's "up to" but knowing the UK NHS I expect it to be 10. |
Quoting UAL747 (Reply 10): I don't know what you are getting tested for, but as for HIV/AIDS, while a lot of advertisements try and scare you into testing, it's not a really easy disease to get. |
Quoting MaverickM11 (Reply 17): the one that involves a swab up the peeps |
Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 19): What may be the largest epidemic in the US these days is Hep C. |
Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 19): Roughly 40% of HIV+ people are co-infected with HV-C, most from IV drug use, but it is also an STD. |
Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 19): commen |
Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 19): commen |
Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 19): Treatment for Genotype 1 involves 48 weeks of shots and drugs with a very low success rate |
Quoting Swiftski (Thread starter): Just had my first test today and it scared the crap out of me. 10 days till results. |
Quoting Newark777 (Reply 7): That's not necessary, there's nothing wrong with jerking off too much. |
Quoting N1120A (Reply 20): While Hep-C can be transmitted sexually, such transmission is rather difficult. The vast majority of cases are IV drug or tattoo needle spread. |
Quoting MaverickM11 (Reply 17): It's a lot easier to avoid it than get it. Everyone should get tested and know their status. It's an easy test and it's not the one that involves a swab up the peeps so there's no excuse. It's a lot easier than being, you know, dead. |
Quoting CaptOveur (Reply 23): Interesting.. We just did our yearly pathogens training at work and we were all given the impression Hep-C is pretty easy to get from just about any bodily fluid. |

Quoting UH60FtRucker (Reply 26): Can you get a sexually transmitted disease from having intercourse with animals? Maybe a sheep, or a donkey, or a camel? |
Quoting Mike89406 (Reply 27): Well as for HIV/AIDS they have determined for a while now that it's not a death sentence contrary to popular belief. I am well educated on it because someone in my family has it. They are approaching 30 yr survivors now and with the advent of modern medicine and technology they can treat it like a chronic condition similar to diabetes if you will providing you take care of yourself, and are not asymptomatic to begin with etc... Enough of that though I don't have time to explain right now. |

I understand that but the point is all of that is a lot more difficult than just practising safer sex...something that seems to be lost on my peers. |

People say, "well it is manageable" true, but at what costs? As of today, we don't know the long term effects of the triple cocktail on people who have been on these meds for a long time. Also, the cost of these meds is astronomical over the course of a lifetime. Add to that, the constant monitoring of viral loads, CD4 counts, etc, and doctor visits and anyone with out insurance will be bankrupt very fast. Please, don't give people the impression that HIV is something trivial, it is not! |
Quoting Mike89406 (Reply 27):
Having said that to the thread starter learn your lessons now and believe me there are a few diseases besides HIV you don't want to catch Like mentioned Hep C can be nasty and kill you and there are new strains I have heard of not sure what they are right of the top of my head. Anyways good luck. |
Quoting Mike89406 (Reply 37):
It is suprising how many people have taken for granted safe sex methods beat in to our heads growing up, I know some STD's are on the rise again suprisingly. Luckily I'm married and faithful. |
