Roughly 36 hours - the combination of jet lag, delays, and a crazy traveling schedule that I will never do again. It was the worst experience ever and I could literally sleep standing up in line.

I've done a full 44 hours, maybe a little more when I flew home from Phoenix to Manchester. I felt so groggy and horrible, good job I had 22 hours sleep afterwards  Silly

One day I woke up for work at 0500 and went to work at 0600Hrs.....at 1500Hrs I had to drive to Montreal to rescue an Airplane.....I then ended up working on the plane until 0930Hrs the following day...drove home and was in bed by 1200. For a total work day of 31 hours or so...

Oddly enough it was not that tough. In fact I was up at 2100hrs ready to go.

170 hours - which is about 7 days - and I wish I was kidding. :/ I was going through a rough period with family members dying and so on, so it wasn't choosing not to sleep as much as not being able to (despite meds).

Today, due to insomniac and other fun stuff, 48 hours isn't too uncommon for me and I do 24 at least once a week because of this. I choose (and have been advised) not to take sleeping pills (already on various painkillers, thanks so much) as they usually make me sleep for 20+ hours and I get better results if I wait through the day until I reach a "decent time for bed" after not sleeping for a night - and sometimes, it just kind of happens twice...  blush  I have some herbal stuff instead, but it doesn't always kick me right.

35 for me, although I surprisingly didn't feel too bad at all!

That's what happens when you catch a coach at 1am, for an 8 hour coach journey, to an RAF base where nobody sleeps until about midnight.

Good times, and a fantastic nights sleep in a shockingly nasty bed  Wink

About 80 hours.

Pain can be an incredible stimulant. Three herniated discs in my neck combined with a westbound TATL flight.

About 36 hours. I was flying YYZ-YOW-LHR in April '07. I got up at 07:00 EST (12:00 London?). Since I was traveling with my school I had to be there at 11:00. My flight landed at LHR at 06:35 (I can't sleep on planes). I had been up for 18 1/2 hours by then. The first day we were there we traveled around London so I was awake the whole time. I got to bed 01:00 that night. I was tired all day, but when I got to bed I wasn't.  boggled

41 hours. Woke up one mourning at 07:00 and feel asleep really two days later at around 01:00. So wake up on Monday and go to sleep on a Wednesday. I have done 24-28 hours many times.

39 hours
I was on a winter survival course. I got mild hypothermia so I was up late and then I had to give first aid all night to a guy with a more severe case of it. It was morning before I could get the guy evacuated. Broke camp and did training exercises all day. Got home had a shower and slept for 16 hours.

About 45 hours. It's called heading out to Las Vegas on a Friday night after work (and getting up at 5 am) and getting overstimulated in order to stay up late Friday night. I had a double espresso at Starbucks before even leaving the terminal at LAS. After getting settled into my hotel room, I took a couple of energy pills (you know those things you see at the register at gas stations) and following the directions, took all three pills like the directions said to. I was so wired that I was not able to fall asleep until about 11 pm Saturday night (I tried to get a few hours sleep Friday night and during the day Saturday but couldn't fall asleep). But even then, I didn't get much sleep, as there were some noisy neighbors and I got maybe 2-3 hours of decent sleep that night and had to get up about 5 am because I had an 8 am flight home. It took me a week to get my sleep back to normal.

The record for sleep deprivation is 11days.

http://www.gelfmagazine.com/archives/sleeping_in.php

For me it was 1 day and 12 hours. I want to break mine but doubt it will happen with the meds I am on.

I have gone without sleep for 10 days straight....not by choice but due to circumstances (break-up, family and job issues all at the same time; even meds didn't work) and I hope I never have to repeat it again!

I think I've calculated mine to be 42 hours.

I flew SEA-IAD-FRA-MAA and got some winks, I arrived late in the night, and started working at 6AM the following morning.
Needless to say, thinks took a little longer there to get done than they do in the US, and I was waiting for an army of manual laborers to finish constructing a stage / set before I could begin deploying my gear.

Due to the nature of the work I was doing at the time, it was *IMPERATIVE* that I was finished and 100% checked before the morning. I wrapped up around 3AM, and had to be back in there at 5AM. I've learned that there's a point when one or two hours of sleep will kill me the next morning, so I decided to stay awake and return at 5. It wasn't fun, I had to be focused and was on edge the whole time. (I was in charge of supporting Bill Gates for a Keynote he was delivering in India, the pressure is always on when supporting "VIP"'s like him at Microsoft).

My day wasn't over when the conference wrapped up for the night, however, I had to remove my on stage setup, because the room was being used for a large attendee party that evening. (I'm not going to lie, I consumed more than my fair share of wine  Smile ) At 11PM I reset the stage, and checked the gear. The alcohol combined with severe lack of sleep made things challenging  Smile.

I'm not sure what time I fell asleep that night, but I was wide awake at 5 to be back into work for day 2 of the conference.

Mine is about 48 hours. I flew LHR-SVO-PEK (8hr layover)-TYN and then stayed up most of night with my friends when i arrived. Then after 4 hrs sleep it was back up again for another 24hrs.

Around 30 hours or more. During a school night I thought about staying up all night but I decided not to.

I went 1 month (FEB 2004) with only 5 hours of sleep a week. I was taking 20 college units, and 2 full time jobs (40 hours each.) By the end of the month I was in such bad shape I nearly had to go to the ER, and I ended up sleeping from Friday 6 PM to Monday morning 8 AM. Trust me, never do this. It took me almost 3 months to fully recover from this.

30 or so hours. Drove from Seattle to Iowa in about 28 hours without sleeping. Made it to Orlando in just under three days. I can hardly believe some of the stories I am reading in this thread. I don't know how you people managed to do it.

My record is about 33 hours about 2 months ago. I woke up around 6am on a Thursday morning, worked a full day, and went straight to the airport from work to catch a flight on US to CLT and then MCO. Unfortunately for me a thunderstorm decided to park itself over CLT for several hours, and they cancelled all flights but mine. We finally boarded the 757 at about 3am Friday morning for the flight down to MCO. I had a meeting early Friday morning and by the time I had picked up my rental car at the terminal, it was going on 6am, so I didn't bother going to a hotel. After my meeting, I grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed straight back to the airport. Fortunately I was able to grab a nonstop flight back to IND on NW (DC-9), and I passed out on my couch around 3pm Friday afternoon (33 hours after waking up).

Oh, and the following morning (Saturday) I flew to LAX for a concert and to visit friends, got about four hours of sleep, and flew BUR-PHX-IND early Sunday morning. That was a miserable, but fun weekend.

How can you stay a wake while driving for that long? I can drive for 12 hours and sleep for 14 afterwards.

If you stay up for a certain amount of time, you don't feel tired at all... then until a point where you just collapse... which is dangerous, because you could be anywhere.

Very true, it's different from person to person, and how quickly it comes around depends on what you are doing.

Longest I have stayed away whilst doing work was 70/80 hours, a non stop push to complete all bits of coursework at the end of my second year in University. After that I was just dead, at the end walls were moving, doors talking to me, and socks swimming accross the floor - totally insane hallucinations, no drugs or alcohol involved btw, honest  Wink

Aside of that though, the longest I've been awake was 116 hours. I need very little sleep normally and I wasn't exactly exhausted when I did finally go to sleep. I work on a 48 hour day anyway; I'm awake for 38-40 hours, then I sleep for 8-10 - repeat process over and over again...

Well it was a choice between handing in a good piece of work, and handing in something which really shined. It made the difference too; I reckon I'd have gotten 60-65% for it before I polished it up during those last three days, and I ended up with 78% - which is a 1st.

Well I'm a doctor and I had to do med school and residency. My record is 48 1/2 hours. That would be the day they made me stay for lectures after I'd been on call all night and then they came to me and asked if I "wouldn't mind" staying "a bit late" because there was a "short case in the operating room." The "short case" wound up taking 8 hours. I almost fell asleep into the surgical field I was so tired.

Fortunately this practice is now illegal. Which doesn't stop it from happening...

Yeah no problem at all - to be honest it was probably just my eyes more than my brain. I spent most of the time staring at a 22 inch PC screen whilst working with PS, Sketchup, Google Earth and CAD - enough to do your head in at the best of times!  silly

Max for me was probably about 30-31 hours. I woke up one morning to go to work at about 7 am and didn't get home and into bed until about 1 pm the next day. I had pulled an all nighter and into the morning preparing documents for an attorney on a case I was working with to take the deposition of an executive of a major insurance/reinsurance company.

With commuting, I am usually up for periods of 30 hours, twice a week. Sadly, I am entirely used to it. I would hazard a guess at 48 hours.

Something like 48 hours back in my clubbing days...

Otherwise, whenever I fly home to Australia I rack up 36-40 without sleep.

Well let's see. When I would to trades at US, they would usually be on mornings right after I do my usual shift. So I would wake up at noon for my normal scheduled shift, which ended at midnight.

Then I would stay up all night to get to work for the trade by 6, because the approximately 4-5 hours I would get was not work putting my body through the shock of waking up. So that's already 18 hours... And then 18 hours of ramp work, starting by pushing out the RON aircraft I had cleaned the 7 hours before, and then handling 17 more flights until midnight again.

Then I would go to bed around 2 am or so, especially if my roommates were in the mood to go to Denny's late or something....

So my answer is 38 hours, several times.
Scotty doesn't know...

I lift things up and put them down.
