Here is the best comparison I can think of.

Sarah Palin as POTUS = 14 Year old kid at the controls of a limping 747 with 2 years experience on the first version of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

I Will be honest.. I do not like McCain but the man know what he is doing and he is not a soccer mom out to prove something.

BTW, Matt Damon is a very intelligent guy, and his opinion is very educated. I would not take him with a grain of salt as one would with say Jennifer Lopez or Britney Spears.

Thank God for Matt Damon.....and I was convinced Palin was the right person for the job. You know, I trust actors to tell me how to think, to tell me what is and what is not cool, to tell me what to and what not to buy....they are basically my entire example for how to live my life.
Matt is an actor, and Matt does not like Palin, therefore I do not like Palin.

As much as people would like to put Palin down, what special knowledge or experience does Obama have? He is merely a first term junior Senator of his state and quite green of any meaningfull experience also. I'm actually quite disappointed with the Democratic Party for falling for nothing but a pretty face and good speaker. Even losers of the past like Kerry and Gore have much more under their belts.

So I much rather have Palin who's running for the VP spot by tragedy end up in the POTUS spot, then Obama who is directly seeking the POTUS spot. He might be a good talker, but he is no way ready to lead America.

Anyhow - is it any surprise that Matt Damon, Oprah or 100 other celebritires endorse Obama?

After all majority of the entertainment industry is heavily Democratic.

Personally and especially since living here in LA and interacting with folks in the industry regularly, their opinions are very much meaningless to me as many are as far from reality in America as one can get.

Let them talk up Obama or anyone they wish, however the elections are not decided in Hollywood, but in the heartlands of America where people live that reality.

Obama taught constitutional law for 12 years at the university of Chicago

Palin got a BS from Idaho while helping her family fishing business and working part time as a sports reporter.

Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate and there served a term from 1996 - 2004, then being elected to the US Senate again from 2004 - Onwards.

Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, population a startling 7000 people from 1996 - 2002. Then she was elected as Governor to the State of Alaska with a whopping population that is smaller then the combined children in the elementary schools of New York State.

THERE IS NO COMPARISON HERE IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE...... PALIN IS A BABY.

Palin has previously called the Iraq invasion "the will of god" — exactly like Bush himself. That is the most worrying aspect of her candidacy.

This is exactly the sentiment which is used by dictators and absolute monarchs to put themselves above the law and any human criticism or political oversight.

It has absolutely no place in any executive position, much less in the White House!

Yet another US government which sees itself above the law and operates on the basis of religious delusions? How many more catastrophies are the american voters ready for at this point?

Religious nutcases in Pakistan and in Teheran are bad enough — with even more religious nutcases in the White House this will become a absolute nightmare!

Regardless, my point is why should anyone care what an actor thinks? I've long made up my decision between McCain and Obama (and HRC at the time), and not a single celebrity was involved in that decision. And when I see Madonna in concert, her (immature, uneducated) comparison of McCain and Hitler is not going to make a difference either.

It's humorous yet extremely frightening to read the ridiculous logic people are using to justify their support for her. What has this country devolved into when half the population either believes... or is fooling themselves into believing... that Sarah Palin, of all people, has the skills to be president of the United States! PRESIDENT! Hell, she doesn't even believe in the primary tenet of the constitution: separation of church and state! This is appalling and a national and world nightmare in the making.

What does it mean?? What isn't clear to you? The point is simple - despite being an actor, Damon is an American citizen with an excellent education and work resume (unlike the people you keep company with, evidently). Just because he's famous doesn't negate his right to express an opinion, nor render that opinion invalid.

I can't see how it's possible when her positions are so extreme. If you're ultra-conservative, she's a gem. If you're liberal or moderate (truly moderate) than she's a nightmare.

I keep hearing people claim they are moderates but that they love Palin. She's just so "down to earth." That is just a silly reason to vote for a party's candidate. If you agree with her politics, fine. Just call it what it is.

If you support Palin: You don't mind that she raised taxes, participated in deficit spending, was an active participant in the earmark game, has some ethics investigations ongoing, has a husband who was a member of a group wanting Alaska to secede from the union (unless this has been disproven), showed a keen interest in banning library books, is pro-life even in the case of rape and incest, and has almost no international travel (let alone experience), and has a really questionable academic record for someone to end up in such a position.

If all of that is overcome by "gut feel" and "she's a soccer mom!" sentiment then I really pity the state of our nation even more than I did a few months ago.
