Opinion On The New Windows Live Mail Interface(?)

Tue Nov 04, 2008 10:53 pm

Hi,

Just was wondering what people thought of the new Microsoft Windows Live Mail interface (if they used it/noticed it etc.). Personally I always thought the old Hotmail was the best but the new interface does seem quite a bit faster (at least here) than the old one so I kinda like it. Hopefully Microsoft is finally leaving bloat behind and it'll continue to Windows 7 too.

Any thoughts etc. welcome.

Pierre.

Waaaaay too much white space.

I don't use it much but it's horrible. The old one was perfectly fine (and it wasn't even around all that long was it?)

I like it.

I like simple, clean and uncluttered interfaces.. unlike some recent websites that have changed (ahem) lol

I'm also betaing the next version of Windows Live Messenger, and I will tell you, it's a big change, and it's a welcomed change.. It's almost identical in look and feel to the new windows live mail interface.

Mine just changed.

I liked the old version better. I need to keep looking to see if I can change it. I had more dark gray and black before. The text is way too big now too.

I don't use Hotmail anymore but LHRjc does and bless, he's a bit stuck.

Here's an email from him. Obviously he figured it out eventually.

Who's changed bloody hotmail and confused me, I can't figure this new sh*t out....

argh where's the send button?!

I have been using that for a while too - the ability to log in from multiple locations at once is.... interesting! Im not terribly convinced by the interface though, the icons are just a bit too big and over simplified. The previous version was much nicer

It sucks. It's too bright, plus you can only use the "light" version of it. Hell, even the button where you used to click to check for new e-mails is gone, and I liked that little feature.

If only that weren't true but sadly it is! It's awful. At home I use Outlook 2007 for my Hotmail as I have Hotmail Plus, but at work due, to the fact Outlook can't be used with Hotmail through a Microsoft ISA Server Proxy despite all 3 things being Microsoft, I have to use normal Hotmail, and it truly sucks!

Strange... Three things from the same company not working together... oh wait, you said Microsoft. It's ok then! Big grin

Seems slightly faster, but for looks and for finding buttons I definately liked the old one better.

I used hotmail until I got Gmail back in 2004 and I never looked back. I tried to log in with my old details and it told me my old ID is not a registered user  Silly

If you don't log in to your Hotmail account after a total of 120 consecutive days or more of inactivty, the account gets deleted.
