I hope this message finds you all well!

First, I would like to apologize for the bumpy road up to this point in regards to setting up this meet. I take full responsibility for what occurred back in September and I hope that we can all look past those events and make this meet the best Atlanta meet to date.

That being said, I'd like to update you all on what is and what is not planned as of today. Originally, I had wanted to get a tour of the Operations Control Center. Tours of the OCC are hard to come by in the winter months as IROPs (irregular operations) usually prevent them from being approved. As it turns out, the OCC portion of the meet was not approved by the airline.

The good news:
* The general offices/simulator support tour is still a go!
* Additionally, I am still awaiting confirmation from the folks at TechOps for that portion however I am optimistic.

In the interim, Delta Global Services has requested personal information from all folks attending this portion of the meet (full name of yourself and your guest, if applicable). The purpose of gathering this information is to facilitate registration upon arrival at both the General Offices and the Technical Operations Center.

Please email this information to me (along with your Airliners.net user name so that I can tell who is who) no later than November 25, 2008. On November 25, I will forward the information to DGS and they will have your name tags ready for pick-up at the gate upon arrival on December 13.

I will inform everyone of the final schedule for December 13 as soon as everything is finalized.

- We still need to decide on a place to meet on Saturday morning. I was going to recommend we all meet at 09:30am on the top level of the South Terminal daily parking deck, since its an easy spot to find for all parties involved. Once we gather, we can then car pool to the Delta headquarters area. What do you all think about this suggestion?

I'm looking forward to this meet and to meeting everyone. If you know of anyone going who might not see this thread for any reason, please forward them to it if possible.

While attempting to contact the folks who remain on the list, I found that iflyatldl had not renewed his memership at the site so I can only assume that he does not plan on attending the meet. I removed him from the list.

After attending my first ever a.netters meeting in August in ZRH I was very tempted to sign up a while back but funds and job just wouldn't allow it. If you all have as much fun as the ZRH then it sould be a great meeting. Enjoy

Sorry to hear that. Not much has changed really, just the OCC tour and museum. As for what was "originally planned," I kindly remind you that all of that was clearly tentative to begin with. Should you change your mind, you are still more than welcome to attend.

Something else we need to consider is transportation from the parking deck to the headquarters gate and then on to the TOC. My GTI seats four. RL757PVD can fit a few in his truck and Deltajets will be bringing his car as well. Any locals who are coming to the meet - would you be willing to give out-of-towners a lift if the need arises?

Hi Chris, as much as I would have liked to, I won't be able to make it. I have to actually go out of town that weekend...found out a couple of days ago. Hopefully I'll be able to catch the next one. Heck of a job in setting all of this up.

Wish I could come, but World just threw me on a 34 day trip. There's troops to move, crago to sling, and someone has to do it. Have fun!

I come into ATL on Dec 13 on DL 9 which arrives 6:55pm.

Also, I spoke with Tiffany, the museum's Curator today. I'm happy to report that the museum will be open for us on Saturday, however, as they do not have museum folks on staff on the weekends, the aircraft will not be open for us. We will, however, be allowed into the museum.

In short, the museum tour is back on (to an extent) and I'll be your tour guide!  

Things are definitely coming together as I had hoped. If you have not yet provided me with your contact information as described above please do so as soon as you can so I can get that ball rolling.

What about Friday? Does anyone have something planned before the meet? Since I have all day, I thought of going spotting or so, but will anyone else be around on Friday? Maybe a little pre-meet would be cool.

When I lived in Georgia, Six Flags closed by the first weekend of November each year. SkyGirl even mentioned something to me about going there one of the days when we were still planning to attend. Maybe in a summer ATL meet. As for discounted tickets - I could get tickets for about $25 per person through the Tickets and Tours at Robins AFB when we lived there - my friends and I took advantage of that a couple times.

Just so everyone's on the same page, plan on meeting Saturday, December 13 at 09:30 AM on the top level of the NORTH terminal's daily parking deck. I personally will be there earlier than that to catch the morning arrivals, anyone else who would like to join me prior to our meet time is of course welcome to do so. Note I changed the location from the south terminal as the south parking deck is backlit in the mornings.

Around 10:30 AM we will head to the Delta general offices for the Delta museum and simulator support tours. This will last I would estimate about 2 hours. Following a lunch break, at 1:00 PM we will then head to Delta TechOps for the TOC tour. This too will also last around two hours.

Does this sound good for everyone?

It wasn't that bad, it was only -7F (incl windchill) when I arrived! I actually found it quite bearable (for short periods of time) even when wearing normal clothing. I guess the fact that it was a fairly dry cold helped.
