YYZ Meet Ideas

Wed Jan 21, 2009 9:15 pm

Since the last one got deleted a few weeks ago, I'll re-start it. I never found out why it did.

The last one was nearly 3 years ago, so we need another one. Anyone wanna suggest a date? End of June or sometime in July? Would anyone be interested in eating somewhere like last time, or just a spotting day?

End on June/early July would work for me, since my spring travel is usually over at the time...and yes, I'd be interested in eating and/or drinking too.

I'd attend, depending on my schedule at the time. A good outing at a restaurant would be fun way to end the day.

Is Nuno going to be the shuttle driver this year, I hear he loves to drive people around town..

Question to Nuno..
"Hey was that your Jetta???"

Nuno's reply..

"Oh no, it wasn't me"

Follow-up question to Nuno ...

"Are you sure, it sure looked like you?"

Final reply from Nuno..

"Nope, wasn't me (cough)"

Zippy faints,,

I remember one in July 2004 where I went with him to pick up FLYYUL at T1 and he was yelling at the security guard for being parked at the domestic drop off too long.

That was funny.

Count me in n let me know the days n i'll call in sick lmao! It's been way too long and i'm due another good time out to Toronto (laughs). Last time i was there i gave Len (Curtisman) nightmares and this time should be no different! Personally i would go with July because it will will be hot and sunny (i hope) so what say all you so called A nutters? The YYZ meet is one of a kind and we all have a blast at the meet and afterwards at the meal, not to mention what goes on when the sun goes down....yeah you know who you are! Count me in for i shall be there and this time i might bring my real guitar, not a purple one!

Cheers

Gene, you forgot to mention it was like 3 in the morning and in a sketchy part of town nonetheless.... and I was not the only one not sure when I would get back to the safety of the YYZ Marriott.

Speaking of said Marriott, who can forgot standing out front and wondering why the shuttle buses were still coming from the airport. Then of course it dawned on us that it was for people flying out on the 6am flights. That's when we all decided it was time for bed.

YYZ meets were a good time. Unfortunately (or fortunately as I don't have to deal w/ upstate New York winters) I am not longer close and by summer will likely be even further away.

Maybe y'all should go to the Landing Strip... if it is still open.

Does this mean I've got to go to YYZ again? Damn, well, I'm on leave 14 - 25 June, so I guess I could squeeze a trip in. Might even bring my wife this time. So, around 18th june would be good (wifes birthday - excuse for the trip!)

Mind you, chances of doing any spotting with her in tow are remote!! Still, worth a try. Big grin

YYZ meets are fun, although I'm disappointed Captaingomes hasn't responded yet. I rely on him to make these things all come together. (No pressure Nuno!).

Hopefully LHMark and LHNancy can come and bring K-Roc again. They're always fun. We should also make sure Scarlet and Vapour know about it too.

And a completely random off-topic question for Skidmarks. I was watching a show with Chef Gordon Ramsay last night and some guy on it said people on the Isle of Man are allowed to shoot a Scot if they're within 20 feet of shore, is it true just a joke?  laughing  LOL

LOL! An oft-quoted falacy I am afraid. It was said that if you killed a Scotsman on New Years Day with a crossbow you wouldn't be prosecuted but I can't think of anyone ever trying - although I can think of a few Scots who deserve it !!!! Well, I was just alerted to this thread - I don't come to a.net anymore! Sorry G, I no longer can take the massive responsibility of YYZ Meets - hence why they haven't occured in ages perhaps? The newer generation of a.netters in the YYZ area have certainly dropped the ball!

The Jetta is still around too, but I might purposely bring car #2 which is much more limited in passenger capacity just to avoid the trouble hahaha. Of course, that's assuming I make it!
I'll definitely have to show up if our friends Zippy the Chip and the family, Skidmarks and others decide to make the long trek over here. Even if it's just to join for dinner, it will be well worth it. Let's keep this thread going and make sure the pesky mods keep their hands off.

And by the way, that was the almighty Jeremy Clarkson who was on Gordon Ramsay's F Word that you were watching. He's not just some guy!!!!
