Would Anyone Be Interested In A Mini-meet At SFO?

Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:08 pm

Hi,

Is anyone up for a mini-meet in San Francisco/Bay Area on February 15th?

I'll also be in Sacramento around the 17th or 18th.

So, does anyone want to decide on a meeting spot? I'm staying near Fisherman's Wharf, near the end of the F streetcar line.

Are you old enough to get in to bars here in the US?

Probably not, unless if some bars let people that are 18-21 in, without serving alcohol.

However, I'm sure there's many other places in the city that's fine...

Don't know what to tell any of you all at this point.
I can't guarantee I'll be a part of this. I've got much bigger fish to fry at this point and can't be bothered with tracking down other folks when people can easily just post their questions in this thread instead of leaving messages without return telephone numbers and emails.

Hello Superfly,
I'm very sorry that I wasn't able to leave my phone number in your message, I was in a rather busy and hectic situation and forgot to. When I had the opportunity to, I sent you my phone number via PM the next day. I'm sorry that you can't make it, though, as I was looking forward to meeting you.

I know virtually nothing about the city apart from the very major landmarks and attractions, so I would certainly appreciate it if someone would be able to come up with a time and place to meet up on the 15th.

If you need to contact me, you can always PM me. If you need my phone number, you can PM me as well and I'll be able to give it to you.

Is anyone OK with meeting up at the In-N-Out burger Fisherman's Wharf location at 11am on Sunday, Feb 15? If not, I am completely open to other suggestions.

Thanks

I might be on depending on the weather. If it's a normal 28/01 day, I'll probably be down. If it's a 10/19 day, I'll probably give it a miss. Believe it or not, I've never been there on a 28/01 day.

Alas, don't even think about doing the meet tomorrow. According to Weather Underground's web page, SFO will experience potentially heavy rain with winds in the 20-30 mph range.  Wow!

It's raining like God has a hangover. It's pretty godawful out there.

I'll show up and show my face around 1-ish, but if it's like this, I'm not standing out in this. We have too many beautiful days here at SFO to bother spotting on a day like this.

Hi all,

Considering the rotten weather, I suggest we meet at an alternative venue just south of the airport. The Elephant Bar is at 1600 Bayshore Highway in Burlingame and has a nice view of the 28s from the restaurant:

It was nice meeting everyone today. Unfortunately the weather sucked but we managed to meet up at the El Torito just south of the airport. Here are my pics.

The weather was awful but we had a halfway decent place to eat and watch the planes take off:

Here are some shots I was able to get. I apologize for the poor quality but I was shooting from the bar at the restaurant through the windows:

Hmmm... The water is grey on my screen but you're probably referring to the increased exposure level. I had it set to +1 on my camera for the group shots so that the light coming through the windows wouldn't darken everyone in the foreground. Sometimes you'll lose all the detail in the background doing that but at least you can see the subjects in the foreground.
