Which Browser Do You Use?

Sat Feb 14, 2009 9:59 am

Lately I've been trying out a couple browsers on my PC.

Tried IE8, Firefox 3, Safari, Google Chrome and Opera.

And I have to say, I like Opera the best, and I think I'll stick with it.

So, which browser do use/like best? Any recommendations.

iCab - Internet Taxi for the Mac

It uses the same core engine as Safari, but it is configurable to a much greater degree and has many features I don't want to work without any more (the Filter Manager is excellent!).

Hi,

Currently I'm using Internet Explorer (on a Mac because I'm in a hotel using their internet station). But at home I normally use Internet Explorer or sometimes Opera 7 (very light browser but not very up to date) or Firefox (when I want to make sure a webpage will display).

I currently have Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox, and used Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Netscape, AOL Explorer, and Opera before. I use Firefox for 99% of the time, but I do use Safari occasionally.

Firefox most of the time.

I use Chrome sometimes, but there seems to be a problem with the text updating when writing posts on a.net.

Firefox on a Mac. I am used to it and it works well in 99.9% of sites I frequent and the Sage RSS reader add-on is a godsend.

Tried 'em all, why I don't know. Haven't found anything that comes close to Firefox. I'm still impressed with the fact Mozilla knows IE is still a very popular browser and, therefore, have a "view in IE" option. I am finding I have to use it less and less as more sites are accepting the fact that IE is no longer the only browser out there.

I generally use Mozilla Firefox and have the Internet Explorer as a reserve, often useful with particular InternetExplorer-oriented WEBsites. But just right now, upon your post, checked up "Opera" and have to say that it looks exceedingly well !

Same here. IE is still necessary for many non-Western websites.

Google Chrome. It's not perfect but still by far the best browser I've used to date. It's a no-nonsense browser - fast, sleek and less prone to errors.

Chrome, as it is the fastest browser I have used, except for A.net (text issues and photo identification) and BBC iPlayer (something to do with the way flash incorporates with chrome) which are used with IE.

Never got on with FF.

Firefox on Windows Vista. I use a portable version so when I go abroad, it's just one folder to carry to my laptop and everything is there.

On the laptop, it's Safari on Leopard, and Firefox on Vista. I can't stand any other browsers anymore. I can't even remember what IE looks like.

By the way, one very useful addon for Firefox is IE Tab, which essentially uses the IE rendering engine in its own browser tab. This is very useful for certain web sites that use IE-specific features.

But I mostly use Firefox 3.0.6 as my primary browser.

Firefox 1.5. Love It. I use IE to see how bad IE will screw up HTML on my pages.  Wink
I like opera. Like Safari. I just find Firefox to be both relatively light, quick, and higly configurable.

Firefox for two main reasons:

AdBlock Plus and NoScript....kills just about EVERY ad, flashing "punch this monkey and win $$" thing, etc... I can't remember the last time I saw a Classmates.com ad!

Another benefit of FF over Opera and Safari is it's compatible with RoboForm. Handy little program for remember user names and passwords.

Y'all are hitting on Firefox's best strength, so many great add-ons!

I use all of the above.

I'm a tabbed-browser freak (often have 20-30 tabs opened) and I'm a control freak anyway (at least when it comes to my computer) so I love Tab Mix Plus and Colorful Tabs.

For some dancing baloney, I like FoxClocks, ForecastFox and FoxyTunes.

For doing Internet research on topics that involves downloading large files (such as researching the female anatomy), DownloadThemAll is fabulous.

And Fission makes the address bar into a progrss bar, ala Safari.

That's only about half the add-ons I have!

Firefox and IE8. I much prefer Firefox out of the two.

On Mac, I also prefer Firefox. Adblock Plus and NoScript make browsing sites easy. No more popups.

Hope the flagfall is not too expensive each time you boot!! I also hope that it does not run by the taxi drivers three rules:

3. Charge em double.

Thanks for the Safari tip though Klaus, I do find it useful

Funnily enough, the taxi driver who told me those rules spoke German too, courtesy of his German speaking Latvian father. But stop worrying, he does not write Mac software. He is, however, rather busy as an Exploration director these days for an oil company. See where driving taxis can get you!!  bigthumbsup

Firefox question: On Windows, suppose I have an application (mspaint, outlook, whatever) to run and I want it to render its output to a tab in firefox - is there an add-on that does that?
