Post Your Favourite Firefox Ad-Ons!

Sun Mar 08, 2009 11:40 pm

Another thread recently started had some information in it regarding peoples favourite Firefox Ad-On's, so I figured I'd start a thread, so we can share since there are a bazillion ad-on's for Firefox!

I use the following ones:

Ad-Block Plus --> amazing to block ads manually as well as automatically.

Flashblock --> Blocks all flash oriented objects on a site -- you can easily allow or disallow them for the future -- GREAT for those annoying flash 'games' and ads that pop up.

Gmail Manager --> manage all your gmail accounts.. Shows you when new mail has arrived, a small snippet of it, and allows you to open a new tab to respond easily!

Noscript --> Blocks all scripts on a given website -- prevents 'crap' (spyware, etc) from loading without your permission.

And, quite dramatically finishing up with:

Foxmarks Bookmarks Synchronizer --> Want to have *1* set of bookmarks between your laptop and desktop? Work/home? What about your passwords?? This ad-on is simply amazing, and everyone I have suggested it to loves it. Also, if your hard drive should crash, it automatically will retrieve your bookmarks, as they are saved on a secure server off-site! Updates automatically as you add/delete new bookmarks.

So, lets hear it guys and gals -- lets see the bookmarks ur using with FF!

Ad-Block Plus

This is the only one I use and I LOVE IT. It allows me to not pay to see ad's on this site. Big grin

Ad Block Plus
Tab Mix plus (can't live without this one)
NoScript (more important than most people know now)
Myibay (ebay sniper)
Gspace (treats a Gmail account as an external hard drive)
a bunch of extra search engines

Update Notifier - Alerts you to updates for your add-ons
Woot Watcher - Shows what the day's Woot is and its price (great for woot-offs!)
IGet - Enter the URL, and it'll download that file
Nuke Anything Enhanced - Deletes whatever you choose on a website (great for ads and things you don't want to see)
IE Tab - Open a site in IE in a tab in Firefox
Countdown clock - It's what you think it is
Colorzilla - Shows what the RGB value and stuff is of a certain color on your screen.
1-ClickWeather - Weather from the Weather Channel
Adblock Plus - My version of First Class membership  box
I get paid to convert dead dino juice into noise.

"Disable Backspace Navigation" is wonderful....as the name suggests, it removes the "back" browser function from your backspace key. This way, when you hit the backspace to remove text, you won't inadvertently go back to the previous page.

"Littlefox" is a great theme...it compacts the navigation bar and maximizes your screen space. I love it.

With "TabScope", you can mouse over any tab to generate a small pop-up preview window. Pretty clever.

"Locationbar" is a tiny addon that highlights the actual source of the active URL so you know where the page is really coming from.

Great thread..!! I've used FireFox for two years and have never really messed around with the 'Ad-on's '... been reading up on your favorites and have so far added Ad Blocker and Flashblocker... love them so far...

Is there a way to open Thunderbird directly off FireFox..? Right now I have to either minimize FF and open TB to check my mail, or just leave TB open in the background. Just wondering if you can ad a 'mail' icon on the tool bar..?
