I saw it already today. It's wonderful. I got tears in my eyes.

I'm with Simon Cowell on this. I was sure it was a wind-up but... what a voice.  eyepopping

If stardom was assured on voice alone, she'd be up there with all the greats. I'm sure she could sell quite a few albums, though.

Wow!

Wow, I had not seen hear about Ms. Boyle.

What a way to end my day...the female judge said it best, but wow, I hope she follows the footsteps of Mr. Potts (and see her doing so.

you know, sometimes you watch these shows and the judges make comments saying people were good after they sing. You watch this, and just the expression on all the judge's faces show exactly what everyone is thinking. She is amazing. Their faces couldn't hide their joy at listening to her sing.

A great perforrmance; I think the song meant a lot to her - not just because it's an absolutely beautiful song (have a look at Ruthie Henshall's rendition on Youtube), but it seems to mirror her own life and previous disappointments.

I don't think it's a wind up; she clearly hits the high notes. Hope she does well next time!

Couldn't help noticing that two of ther judges got her name wrong - Piers Morgan called her "Mrs Pearce" and SC called her "Susan Coyle".

A marvellous performance anyway.

Absolute classic British TV moment!! Every single person I've spoken to about it has said that there wasn't a dry eye in the house!!! It certainly was one in the eye for everyone that laughed at her when she said she wanted to be like Elaine Paige. And such a sweet lady too...bless her, 48 years old and never been kissed...awwwww!!

OMG how amazing was that! I actually have tears in my eyes, it was such a moving performance. I don't normally watch reality shows like this but decided to click on the video and I am so glad I did. Looks can be deceiving. When I saw her, I expected a warbling cat's choir, but that was out of this world. I hope she does vey well and will be watching from now on, just for her performances.

Just watching it again with my brother and father and both thought it was superb. Just for the record, Les Miserables was in Jersey about three weeks ago and I don't recall the singer playing Fantine "hitting me" like Susan Boyle did just there - and she (the professional singer) was a finalist in "I'd do anything".

Quoting Kaitak (Reply 7):

Just listening again - that was actually Simon Cowell cutting in saying "Piers?". D'oh!

This lady achieved something unique - the ability to captivate a live audience & subsequently millions of online viewers, literally within a time frame of 3 seconds with her superb voice as well as the way in which she projected herself!!  bigthumbsup  I still get goosebumps!

it doesn't, i just think think she looks older, and i know it has no relevance to her talent/ability to be successful on the show.

....which gets me thinking, on American Idol they are looking for a "pop star", on Britains Got Talent are they looking for only talented singers or can it be other things such as a magician or acting or.....?

George Sampson: Royal Variety Performance

This year’s Royal Variety Performance acts are younger and hipper than ever – none more so than dancer George Sampson. Michael Deacon meets him

This week, George Sampson will meet the Prince of Wales. It’s a big moment for the 15-year-old breakdancer and winner of Britain’s Got Talent, and he’s been thinking carefully about how he should introduce himself to the future king.

I am happy to see that this very average looking unemployed woman had such success and her voice capability was discovered in this competition. This proves that looks aren't always everything.

She reminds me of French singer Mireille Mathieu. She came up in a TV singers contest as quite an ordinary girl with an amazing voice. She was one from a poor family of 10 or 12 children and working as a factory girl and then she became an international superstar starting out from that TV contest.

I wish the same for Susan Boyle. If she sings the right range of songs for her voice, she will definitely make it and become a female Andrea Bocelli of some kind.

Good luck, woman! I hope you will make it!  cheerful

As someone who is married to a gal from Dundee I can tell you they don't come any better than the Scots. Now I've seen some lovely Irish lasses with red hair and green eyes and a smile that could warm your heart. Even so I'll stick with the Scots.

As for Susan she will have an album being worked on already and hopefully another one of her favorite Christmas songs - she's pretty good at picking the songs she wants to sing.

A brilliant talent and one I've watched at least a dozen times. I'll be first in line for her albums, just like I was for Paul Potts.

Okay, about this 'Susan Boyle': she has great voice & an intriguing life story. Keep in mind, her appearance on the stage of Britain's Got Talent (as seen on TV/Youtube) was pre-orchestrated, 'live' footage was purposely manipulated, bundled up into a mushy little package and spoon fed to the masses in the name of ratings and the almighty dollar... you've all been cleverly hoodwinked!

Everything is posisble nowadays. I just hope this wasn't all made up.

At least Mireille Mathieuu's performance as the contest winner was totally real and natural. There wasn't much you could do in 1970, there was not the high tech there is now.

This was the result when she won the competition, and she was avery pretty girl.

Was the youtube strip edited? Sure was and by a lot of people - check out youtube and you'll find strips of various links posted by various people. It also makes a bit of sense to take hours of tape of the auditions and pick the best of the lot for the show.

What was real was a woman named Susan Boyle who walked on that stage with a bit of a sassy attitude and let loose with a wonderful voice. A huge range, gentle to powerful and an ability to capture an audience in the first line of the song. People who were mocking her moments before. I don't believe we've been hoodwinked. Do you believe she was lip syncing the song? Or that they added a bit to the eyebrows for a bit of interest?

The fact is that there are a lot of exceptional people in this world that don't look like a movie star, or make piles of money. All they have is talent.

The Youtube Orchestra proved that this week, as did Susan Boyle.

If she sounds real as she does on the link, she certainly deserves to make it to the top. She does have a fantastic voice, makes me think off Freddie Mercury kind of voice with a very wide range. She does not go off key either.

There are people who come up with such voices every now and then and they never make it to fame, exept maybe locally. Israel kamakawiwo'ole is one of them. RIP brother Iz.
