Quoting AeroWesty (Reply 12): This is entirely out of context to the linked article, penned by a self-described "Libertarian". |
So is this whole thread as the article is only tertiarily about Pelosi.
Quoting AeroWesty (Reply 12): Nowhere in the article is there a message of "hate" whatsoever, simply an argument regarding what the author perceived as an act of "hustling" on the part of Pelosi regarding the health care debate. |
Again, this thread has taken a completely different tack from the article from the start since it did not talk about Pelosi much at all. Why is it that people hang on her every word then turn it into a source of anger? Because people hate Pelosi. My comment stands.
Quoting AeroWesty (Reply 12): I didn't see anywhere in the article where the Obama-voting Libertarian randomly labeled Democrats, as you claim, as "Liberal", "Socialist", or "Leftie"? |
And I wasn't talking about Democrats writ large either.
BTW, I thought you had a lifetime ban or something. Welcome back.
Quoting Dreadnought (Reply 13): As much as you would like to paint me as a radical rightwinger who hates all democrats |
Oh come now. I've disagreed with you frequently, but I've never called you a radical, have I?
I'm sorry if you folks feel I painted with too broad a brush. I do not mean to say that everyone conservative hates Pelosi, or even that everyone conservative that hates Pelosi hates her for reasons they cannot explain. But I do feel that a large proportion of the people who have an emotional, gutteral dislike for Pelosi cannot substantiate why they hate her.
Quoting Revelation (Reply 16): I suppose it's a sign that Obama is so popular that they can't take shots at him, so they use Pelosi as a proxy. |
Very true.
Quoting DXing (Reply 15): There just aren't any great statesmen in Congress anymore. |
I think Sestak has a chance, but he's about to get crushed in the Senate race. Otherwise, I agree. All demogogues.
Quoting Dreadnought (Reply 13): But Nancy Pelosi is an exception, along with Barney Frank. I hate them because of their outrageous lies, distortions, obfuscations and self-serving BS that they could never get away with if it weren't for their being based in districts that are 90% democrat - as long as they show up, they'll get reelected. |
I agree. But I don't agree with your term limits idea. That's a sure-fire way to destroy institutional memory, and rid ourselves of the actual good men and women that may occasionally show up.
But using term limits to rid ourselves of Michele Bachmann would be great!
