Wifey and I were waiting in the cafeteria of Buffalo's Children's Hospital for our daughter's MRI to be completed when a young man (19 years old max) sat down at the next table

After a few minutes he began to talk to us about his 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. It started out well but he soon started telling us about his "$1,000.00 studded Japanese drift tires". Soon the tale turned to his $5,000.00 mod chip that "gives" him 650 "horses". he went on to tell us of his 235 MPH trip from Buffalo to Erie PA on the NY Thruway.

He claims this speed was achieved by his "chip" and all his body panels being replaced by carbon fiber "mods" and his bulletproof plexi-glass to protect him from rocks at "200+"

So if anyone is in the western New York are and spots a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon going 235 MPH on the Thruway give a nice wave and smile to the kid who distracted us for a few minutes with his wonderful car

I want to say that's possible. But oh well.

What made me smile today....oh gosh.

I was sitting at lunch with two cute girls and they were making jokes and such...which led to one of them saying "I'd like you to fill me up." and the other saying "I want you to start me up and make me roar."  boggled

Needless to say, I was red-faced for at least five straight minutes.  blush

Nice story but there's no way a "chip" can increase HP to 600 in a stock motor. Even if he spent the 5k on engine mods, the car would not be emission legal or street drivable.
And, I doubt that his $1000 "drift" tires are capable of speeds above 145mph.
Pretty entertaining though. Perhaps he was a psychiatric patient there.  wink

Turned out that most thankfully I did not  Smile And to put icing on the cake, right as I walked out the clinic I got a call from my best friend asking me how my appointment went. (As she obviously knew it was worrying me.) To have good news is always one thing; but to have an awesome best friend whom immediately inquires, is the thing that made me smile above all else.  Smile

Watching Bengals LB Rey Maualuga pout on an episode of Hard Knocks. He was trying to bargain a deal on some bedding and the girl wouldn't budge, so he pouted. Watching a grown man of that stature pout is comic.

I saw a very stunningly attractive, petite young woman today. Normally, that alone would be enough to create the smile. However, on this occasion, the smile was created by observing her fart (loudly!) on her male companion and then declare, "I win!!" I wonder what the prize for that would be?

I guess what they say is true: Dynamite comes in small packages.

I was a part of a long email chain at work and I made an obscure rock and roll reference that I knew only one of my colleagues would understand since we're into the same kinds of music. Of course he got it and he said so via private e-mail, which made me smile. He was quite surprised I'd do such a thing. I guess he didn't know that I'm a big time joker.

What made me smile today?

Three things.

1) Seeing my dad today and watching the A380 at Edinburgh. It will be his one and only chance to see it, and I'm glad I could spend it with him. Along with my mum, step-brother and friend (and fellow a.nutter) Nighthawk  Smile

2) Having a really funny chat with a friend online, we've been at it for hours, and it's really brightened up my evening

3) An ex-school mate of mine telling me I was one of his only genuine friends, and that he was glad he could trust someone enough to tell me things that have been bothering him. We used to not get on at all when we were in our junior high school years.

And although it didn't happen today (infact, it was Wednesday), one of my best friends was asking for relationship advice, and I'm always good at giving it out, and I don't see it as a chore or anything, because I like helping people. But after our texts and stuff, he said to me

"I don't feel like I show you enough appreciation mate, I owe you many  Smile"

That meant to much to me to know that I had helped someone

JG  Yeah sure

A few more things, as today was just one of those days:

- I've got the next two days off.

- Since I worked a holiday, I got paid time and a half today.

- I watched as a little girl (barely old enough to walk) play with a butterfly. It could have been playing with her for all I know. She'd stretch out her hand and when the butterfly landed on it, she would giggle the way only a little girl that age can. The butterfly would fly away and she'd toddle after it. It was the cutest damn thing I've ever seen.  cheerful
