There is a doughnut place in PDX called Voodoo Doughnuts. They make all kinds of odd doughnuts. Ones with Cocoa Puffs, Froot Loops, Nyquil, and Pepto Bismol. But, one of their more famous doughnuts is a maple bar with bacon on top.

I actually went to their downtown location (the really tiny one) this summer and waited about 30-45 minutes in line for a doughnut. I got the bacon maple bar. It may seem odd that one would put bacon on a doughnut, but it tasted really good. It tasted similar to a continental breakfast when the syrup from the pancakes spills on the bacon.

All this bacon has made me thirsty.
...What should I have?

Outstanding Doc, simply Outstanding!

I just love chopping up a few over-easy eggs and hashbrowns and then eating them with a bite of bacon in each bite!  yummy  yummy  yummy

Seriously folks, I just don't see how anyone could put ANYTHING other than an over-easy egg yolk on bacon!

Just doesn't seem right, but whatever makes you happy!

I'm lucky to have naturally low cholesterol too!  biggrin

Interesting that they're willing to sell those. The ones with Nyquil and Pepto just seem like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Oh, I have seen some other "interesting" ones there, too. Those are more about the shape than the flavor (I hope). If they put the prescribed dose (or less) in the batter, why would there be a problem? I am guessing it is just like cooking with spirits: just put in enought to flavor the dish but not have any of the nasty side effects.

Forget about bacon, let's talk about Speck!

A recent picture of Sudtiroler spec. My dad enjoying a "healthy" portion. I had to help him finish it off. When in Sudtirol, you must eat the speck and drink their wine.

I can't eat bacon, at least for the time being (not my favorite anyway), so I present these instead:

I lift things up and put them down.

Actually, wasn't there that scene from the NT where Christ somehow causes a parade of all the non-Kosher animals to come down from the sky and says something like "Eat, for what was unclean is now clean!"

If that's the case, then we have Christ to thank for bacon, which means he can't be all that bad...

I'm really considering getting this bacon alarm clock. I would set the alarm to go off every 6 hours that I'm at home, and just re-stock it with bacon after it feeds me.

Just ONE strip!? Seriously? Load that tray full!

And then for dinner, please chop one of these delicious pies up and place it in a large feeding trough so that I can lap up and savor all its delicious bacon-ness:

Oh yea!

There was once a butcher who created a new slice of meat that was soo enticing that it tempted millions into eating large slices every day. It tasted so good that it didn't matter how long it sat in their stomochs, so they liked it no matter what.

A certain population of these consumers, known as "pilots", or those who are in command of vehicles that transport masses of humans between different points of space and time, found that food that sat in their stomachs for long periods of time was beneficial for their long periods of company-enforced food-deprivation, also known as 7 legs flown in one day, on the 2nd-6th day of the trip, when the collective pilot food fund has been exhausted. Thanks, I would like the lightly salted Almonds....ohhhh you're out!? Hmmm, let's visit the 7 Eleven at the next layover....
