Happy Graciasgiving, Americans!

Thu Nov 26, 2009 4:54 am

Well, let me be the first here on a.net to wish all the Americans here a Happy, Healthy, etc, Graciasgiving!!!

I am staying at my sister's house in Swampscott, Massachusetts with her huz and two little monsters, aged 6 and 3, and our mom. (Coulda said three little monsters, 6, 3, and 63.)

Mom's fighting the Stage 3 endometrial cancer these days and the chemo is clearly taking its toll; so that's like totally not cool.

However, it is excellent that she is surrounded by fambly and I am sure we are all going to have a fine and memorable Graciasgiving together.

Other ways to say gracias:

Spasiba (Russian)
Todah (Hebrew)
Zikomo (chiChewa, spoken in Malawi, Africa)
Enkosi (Xhosa, spoken in the South Africa and is also Nelson Mandela's native language)
Ngiyabonga (Zulu; it's like, again with the South Africa)
Doh Jeh (Cantonese)
Pancakes are delicious.

Well, since Thanksgiving doesn't really exist in Germany, and it never existed in Costa Rica, happy Thanksgiving. I hope that Turkey will come out great  Wink (how much I'd like to have a slice of freshly carved turkey right now...).

Happy Erntedankfest!

Erntedankfest is the German variant of thankgsgiving. Erntedank = thanks (danke) for the harvest (Ernte).

But please consider switching from turkey to some other poultry (i.e. goose) that actually has some flavor itself. That way, you can spare the stuffing and cranberries  Wink

As a fellow Massachusettsian, Happy Graciasgiving to you too. Hope you have fun with the little monsters and hope you have quality time with your mum despite her illness.

We're visiting friends up in New Hampster this Thanksgiving. Staying at a really cool lodge overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee.

Have a good one!

Spend as much time with your mom. Even though most people take it for granted, time is probably the most valuable gift one could ever receive. My father is Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) and I flew from NYC to GRR to spend Thanksgiving with family here.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm in College Station, TX with 15 other people for our dinner. Then it's off to the Texas A&M-Texas game since I got tickets as a late birthday present.  Big grin Both of my teams are playing today (Green Bay Packers and Texas A&M). Hopefully this turns out to be one great day with plenty of upsets!  pray   biggrin

Well, considering our Canadian Thanksgiving was in October (I will never understand why we don't just parallel it with your Thanksgiving), happy AMERICAN Thanksgiving to all of my American friends, and may your holiday be good.

PS: don't go eating a lot of turkey tonight, tomorrow is *Black Friday*, and we know what that means! DEALS, DEALS AND MORE DEALS!

Haha, have a great turkey day, and GOOOOO COWBOYS!

I have tried turkey in the past but never goose. Hell, I never even tried the traditional Weihnachtsgans.

Sadly, yes, and it doesn't fall on a Thursday like yours does. It falls on a Monday.  grumpy

I really wish it fell on a Thursday. Four-day weekend!
