Ever Misread A Thread Title?

Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:23 am

So , have you ever glanced at a thread title and misread it - I have had a couple of beauties in the last few days

Anti-gay Lawmaker Get DUI After Leaving Gay Bar (by RL757PVD Mar 4 2010 in Non Aviation)

I misread this as " Anti-gay Lawmaker Get DUI After Leaving Gay Bear" which obviously has a very different connotation .

and I saw this one

Obama Is Not A Dictator (by DocLightning Mar 5 2010 in Non Aviation)

as "Obama is not a doctor" ... not surprisingly I thought it was going to be about the healthcare debate .

So , own up , have you ever looked at a thread and thought "No , they can't mean that " and then realised that you had got it completely wrong ?

Yes I have. I'd like to say that I didn't reply to thread with the misleading title in mind, but then what fun would that be. Sort of funny to suggest deletion on your own post.

I admit I have had to do that once or twice after posting in a hurry and then re-reading the topic properly - very embarrassing !

I read it the same way too at first glance.

I also misread this thread's title too. I thought I read: Ever Misheard A Thread Title?

My eyesight was never good and now that I'm 37 it's not getting any better.

I got an email at work from Office Depot and I was wondering what in the heck are hairy fire supplies; let alone what in the heck does Office Depot have to do with them....

I leaned back a little bit and rubbed my eyes.

The subject heading actually read "Hurry! Free supplies..."

NOt exactly relates, but in my work we sometimes get a list of passengers with missing bags before flights land and sometimes at first glance names can appear very funny! I believe something like Balshack is a popular south American name!

Everyday. I seriously have to read each title twice.

I read the Spirit's first A320 thread as Sprint's (the cell phone company) first A320...lol

Totally just misread:

I was flipping through the threads quickly and saw the word "Hardon"

Speaking of Freud ... are you aware that "dyslexia" is an anagram of "daily sex" ?

I know it is a tragic story and my condolences to the ladies family and friends.

But everytime I read this-

Teacher Killed By Wild Bunch (by L-188 Mar 12 2010 in Non Aviation)

I have a mental picture of an unfortunate teacher being run down by a zombie like Marlon Brando and his undead biker buddies.

Cheers

Yes.. I got one deleted a few years back.. It was about a bullock that was going to be slaughtered at the height of the mad cow disease epidemic.. This cow was sacred to some sect or something here in the UK.. I put the headline... Sacred Bullock Goes To Slaughter.. And it got deleted coz whoever the mod was read it was Sandra Bullock Goes To Slaughter.. I was like WTF!!!!
