Drop A Virtual Nuke

Sat Mar 20, 2010 7:31 am

You can chose different yield nukes and drop them anywhere you want. I haven't tried but here you go. Another new game.

This mapplet shows the thermal damage caused by a nuclear explosion.
Search for a place, pick a suitable weapon and press "Nuke It!"

I just bombed my own town with a Tsar Bomba and took out all of the county of Cheshire, half of Manchester, and most of North Wales.

It's fun in a sick sort of way. See where else I can nuke

EDIT: That DEFCON game reminds me a lot of Wargames. What a great film (in a crap, 80's sort of way, that is  Silly)

Have you noticed that some countries are simply not there? You can practice on Pittsburgh, but not certain other places.

My turn.

I targeted Rome with a 50mt 'Tsar Bomba'. I figured the damage wasn't bad enough so I impacted an asteroid.

No more of Europe - all the way to Khazakstan, Pakistan and parts of India, South to DR Congo, West to the tip of Canada and North all the way past Svalbard. Forget Monaco.

Half of the world gone kaputt.

Could you post the link please? I'm going to buy it once the bank decide to unblock my card because of a fraudulent transaction using my card. I downloaded the demo and I could play it for hours. Looks like a game so crappily made it might actually be good.

I take it these games only take the initial blast radius into account, not the fallout. Anyway, it's an interesting piece of work.

It also fails to account for conditions such as weather or terrain at the time/place of the blast. In reality, factors such as humidity and surrounding hills or valleys can dampen or amplify the effects of a nuclear blast.

But nonetheless, it is an interesting app

The target is marked as Longyearbyen which used to be in Spitzbergen, which is not exactly in Germany, although it was as far as I know the only ever target in anger of the Tirpitz. So why pick on them?

The trouble is when I nuke it the impact stays but the map disappears.

Maybe this is a North Korean game. They want people to nuke all the places other than them
