Don't get me wrong, I like station wagons. If anything needs to be eradicated, it is minivans. What bugs me is all of these manufacturers coming out with station wagons, calling it something silly, and pretending that they invented something revolutionary.

Oh no, they serve a purpose. They tell me what car I need to avoid on the roads as the driver of that car is doing some or all of the following: talking on the phone, yelling at their kids, eating, doing their hair/ makeup, trying to parallel park for the 12th time in a spot I could tuck a small tractor trailer into, the list goes on and on really. Same with the people who buy Suburban's, Tahoes and Sequoia's for kid haulers. Christ, you stuff an infant in one of those might take you days to find the dam kid.

Screw that.
Throw on some 235/75/15 with white-walls, hit cruise-control and let the car do all the work and listen to your favorite Rush 8tra---errr. casset....errr.....CD....err....what ever the kids are listening to these days.

Them kids got those fancy MP3 iThings these days ...  . Hate to break it to you Fly, but this one's got the 6 disc CD changer as a stock stereo and not the 2 unit split radio/cassette and CD like my 2000 GT had ...

Man, you are like a fish out of water. You belong here in SoCal where the Drive -Ins run all year long and convertable tops are down in February

But I like snow and igloos
Quoting cadet57 (Reply 35):
Those are the stock 15's. I sold those and got the stock VR6 17's.

Just something about stock VW alloys that I really like for some reason ... very nice regardless

Do you have any trouble getting parts for it?

Parts are very easy to get and very cheap.
It has many shared parts with so many other Ford, Mercury & Lincoln vehicles over the course of many years.

Or, in my case, turn OFF the cruise control, have some fun with the car, and listen to my favorite Rush tunes on 8tra...err...cassette....err....CD....err.....iPod

Now all I need to do is get more Rush tunes on my iPod! I'm currently only working with Permanent Waves, Snakes and Arrows, Test for Echo, Vapor Trails, and some random stuff from Exit...Stage Left.

A trip to the CD store is in order!

It would be fun to have a fast convertible sports car like ACDC8's and crank a driving tune like Red Barchetta while driving fast through the country side.
Neil Peart is in to the high-end exotic sports cars as well as bmw motorbikes. He sold his Porsche on ebay about 4 or 5 years ago.
Personally I'd be happy a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 convertible as my sport/performance car.

Do they have plans to send them to N.America?

Never have, and probably never will. VAG has enough of a handful in the US with VW/Audi. Seat has a much smaller model lineup and they are basically a slightly "cheapened" VW product. Which in any case their still infinitely better built than anything in the same category Asia or the US can produce.

I don’t want to be the one stating the obvious, but you do realise that the continent North America reaches from Alaska in the north to Panama in the south? You obviously meant the USA and Canada, and Fly2HMO answered your question of course.

Just a bit of geography.

Good to see another W220 owner on here...I can't sympathise on the gas mileage much though!

It's an odd mentality. MY neighbors tried to talk us into a minivan, B/c with 2 kids, they need so much space......:-/

whats the mpg on that, Cadet? Glad to see you got it. You have more heart than I!

Fun fact I learned about my Caprice today. Out of the 10,546 caprice wagons built in 1993, my car is 1 of 4 with the same or more options and 1 of 1(!) with the exact options. Also learned the build date was 3/15/93 so it just "turned" 17.

"There are 1 1993 CAPRICE CLASSIC STA WAG vehicles (0.009%) matching your exact options list. There are 4 (0.038%) with at least as many options. "

Got the info from this site, very cool if you want to learn your car's pedigree:

Between Newington,CT (where I bought it) and my house, on I-91 doing 75 mph the whole way I got 24mpg, I suspect if I slow down I'll get a little better. . In the city, I get about 15-16. So really not that bad. Original window sticker (yes, I have it) says 16/25. So right on the money, even 17 years later.

I am beginning to re-aquire an appreciation for the Subaru's, especially the new Outback wagon. How do you like yours?

I am very impressed on a daily basis, You have AWD in snow and rain even driving across the rockies in the middle of winter the car has never left me guessing it always feels stable and planted, Great MPG in summer looking right around 30 highway 25 normal mix driving, I've gone 504 miles on one tank. Room for everything, and the rack for bikes, ski's or anything else.

The only down side is that the base 2.5i lacks a little power, now you do have the option of the 2.5 turbo, and 3.6 H6 which should make the car a little more sporty.
