Since people seem less and less able to actually post pics, how the hell are you supposed to not cheat when the name of the city is in the frickin' posted link? One doesn't have to try in order to catch a glance...

Just to go www.tinypic.com and input the picture's url, it will upload it and provide you with a new alias link.

Nope... kinda looks like it from the Rideau River but this is a smaller city.

Its namesake is much bigger... there's a hint for you.

Hmmm, a hint, okay, I'll give you two.

1. You cannot see a boat (a very old, legendary one) on the mountain in the background from anywhere in the city. Nor are there any animals up there.
2. The mountain is in a different country about 30km away. However, due to long-standing disagreements over the deaths of approximately 500,000 people that occurred at the beginning of the 20th century the border is closed between these two countries.

Wow it is Yerevan, that wasn't even on my list of guesses, though in retrospect, it does explain why the mix of architeture styles reminded me of other ex-Soviet cities.

Cool. I would love to visit one day, among so many other places...

It is indeed a city that has an interesting mix of old and new, and only in a few places will you be welcomed with more hospitality! This view is from the Cascade, smack in the city center.

As a side I can just pick out the building I lived in, to the left a little bit of the Opera House!

And here's a link to a high-resolution night photo I took March 29, 2010 from a different vantage point that I uploaded over a wikimedia Commons.

Even closer. It is Nikel, about 200km from Murmansk, just over the border from Norway. Murmansk itself isn't as toxically polluted as Nikel, which is basically dominated by the smelter...
