Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

I had to turn off my TV, after watching 5-10 mins of Italian players acting as if they had just been struck down by some vengeful god. And to top it off, they got what has to be the least convincing penalty of the World Cup so far.

Well New Zealand has done themselves no favors they are throwing a lot of elbows when going to the air for balls and have been clutching. Also yelling at the ref. Not smart but GOOOALLLLL AZUURIII!

Hardly. If a bit of shirt grabbing all of the sudden calls for a penalty, the future of this World Cup is going to look amusing. De Rossi tripped over his own feet, went down, and made a drama out of it. And he got a penalty for it.

I'm just disgusted at the Italians acting at just about every single foul against them. They're better than New Zealand by quite a margin, so they shouldn't have to resort to doing so.

Italy is a disgrace to sport, not just football end of story.

Italians should be ashamed of having a team known worldwide from BEFORE 2006 as the most diving team ever, and then to win the World Cup like that again.

And now, taking diving to the 10th power, every two minutes. FIFA needs to put a stop to this or it will destroy the sport.

According to Le Figaro there was an "altercation" (fight? argument?) between Patrice Eva and Robert Duverne (training staff) at the beginning of the training. Domenech interverned and stopped the fight/argument. All French players then went back into the bus and are now on strike until Duverne is removed and Anelka is back on the team. While they won't train (for now?) they will give everything they have on the next match.

Meanwhile deputy director Jean-Louis Valentin has, in tears, tendered his resignation. He has had enough of the French team.

What can I say... if the French team can not represent their nation in football, then going on strike is the next best French way to represent the nation?  edited: spelling

Italy is putting up a better effort in the second half; great passing in the midfield. New Zealand look satisfied to walk away with a tie but are holding their own with some great defending.

Interestingly, French talisman Zidane had a clandestine meeting with Henry, Evra, and Ribery before the match with Mexico. He suggested changing from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2, dropping Gourcuff and Govu for Henry and Villaneuva. Domenech intially accepted the change, but rejected it when he found out Zidane was behind the change. I'm beginning to think Domenech wants to lose. France need another player of Zidane's caliber. Someone with determination, charisma, leadership, confidence, and a burning desire to win. The team in the post-Zidane era looks lost, and are being outplayed, and no one seems to want to fill the big shoes of the legendary #10.

Under normal conditions I would agree but the Azurri is not even close to the team from 06'. Buffon, Pirlo out to injury and Lippi didn't bring Totti, Toni or any other scorers. 14 corners and not one goal? Italy better wake up they control their destiny. They win they are in!

Der SPIEGEL reports that after England's match against Algeria on Friday, an English fan accidentally entered the cabin of the team while looking for a loo. He also had the guts to express his resentment about the poor performance of the national team. After that, he was taken into custody for unlawful entry.

Of course, in a country where murder, rape and corruption are a daily occurence, it is very important to go after harmless fans who, by mistake, go where they aren't supposed to go.

Lol, of course you don't dive during penalty kicks. But you can do enough diving as to delay the game up to the point of having to go to penalties.

Of course, Italy was lucky in penalties too, since everybody knows how much Italy sucks at them(USA 94)

My final is Brazil vs Argentina. That is because Brazil would face relatively easy opponents enroute (Chile, Netherlands, Uruguay) in my scenario that I think they can beat. Germany would face Argentina at some stage... 'nuff said, at least after what I saw on Friday.

Right now: Brazil vs Cote d'Ivoire 3-0

Once more a lame game by the Brazilians so far but still they manage to take the lead. The second goal should have never counted though, because Fabiano used his hand twice! And when asked by the referee he denied it! Highly unsportsmanlike.

Good for the Ivory Coast. They need every goal they can get if it comes to a direct comparison with Portugal (or North Korea?).
