Ghana quickly showed the will to win, while the US didn't until the 2nd half. Ghana's early pressure forced a hole in the defense which they took full advantage of. Too much open space for Ghana to use! Making subs early on showed mistakes in the lineup and it wasn't until the 50th minute that US began playing as they should have the whole time. They began to retain possession, began moving the ball, and began pressing on Ghana's defense and they put a goal in. Lesson learned: Don't give up early goals. You'll end up having you backs pressed up against the wall as the clock runs out.

Congratulations to Ghana for advancing, and to the US for showing the fighting spirit. Overall a good football match; was very gripping.

Ghana won fair and square! They are a better team today. Good job Team USA! Represents USA well!
I'll be rooting for Ghana next match.

Btw I thought the match was well-officiated, except maybe for that undeserved PK. The ref did a good job. Everybody did a good job in that match actually, except Bob Bradley who got burned in his line-up selections.

I see that...my apologies, but even still the MLS has to become more competitive so that the U.S. has a bigger pool of players to pull from.

The U.S. fans at this world cup will be back again for the next one and I'm sure even after this loss there are many more U.S. soccer fans. Just because your team loses doesn't mean you suddenly dislike the sport.

If i had to put a percentage to it...I bet 75-80% of fans who were cheering on the U.S. in the World Cup were only supporting them because they were playing, and they don't really follow the sport, if the U.S. was out of it...most of those people wouldn't care to continue watching. I think for football to be more popular in the States, people have to be regular followers of the game. (its not a sport that's only played every 4 years :-P )

One thing I need to get out: That commentary from Florian König on RTL was just plain horrible! The German members will know what I mean.

Let's all collect 5 €, then we'll buy a few liters of Shell V-Power and burn down his house with the stuff, I even donate the cigarette to light it all up.

Seriously... this guy takes the cake of all football commentators I know...... and I know almost all of the German ones!

PS: RTL again tomorrow!

Yeah, and with the exception of Donovan, they were all pretty awful when they were in the game. Findley in particular was abysmal. I understand Bradley wanted someone with speed out there, but speed is of little value if you can't finish at all. Buddle wasn't a whole lot better, and Bornstein...well, he played like a guy who was in way over his head.

It doesn't get any better either, as they'll have a lot of talent to replace 4 years from now.

Yo German fellas: Is RTL the only station which will broadcast the game in German TV tomorrow? I wholeheartedly agree with you about today’s horrible commentary, I’d really like something different in tomorrow’s 16:00 o’ clock game!

Disappointing ending for Team USA, but at least they did what was expected of them and made it out of their group.

I honestly thought that the US team was stronger than Ghana, but today Ghana deserved to win. Sorry to all the US fans .. but at least you played one game more than we did (Italy)

Mein Beileid.

I'll have to watch it on Canadian or American TV, and both stations tend to have English commentators.

I may mute the tv, and stream inforadio.de instead, but last time I tried that, there was a 30-second lag between the two, which was extremely annoying, too.

Podolski's pretty much done, but the reason he's still there is that he combines well with Klose.

Who, apparently also combines quite fine with Neuer and the absent English defense. Seems like two of the three lions were asleep there.

Not quite. 1966 = bounced on line. 2010 = bounced 2 feet over the line. Perhaps the clowns at FIFA may look at goal-line technology once again.

I think the German goalkeeper is partly to blame. He saw it was in, it bounced back by chance, and he played on and ignored it. Total bad sportsmanship if you ask me, that sums up all that is wrong with the game - it's no better if not much worse than diving.
