US getting their ass whooped so far. Ghana playing Italian like defense and the US playing crap defense. Soft goal they allowed, give away in midfield, defense didn't recover and goalie lets it by near post and now the US taking bad yellow cards as one player just got his second. Well at this rate it won't matter. Come on US!

I went to the Korea Republic vs Uruguay game today at Nelson Mandela Bay Satdium, Port Elizabeth. Uruguay won 2-1, although Korea were the better team, especially in the first 20-30 minutes of the second half. I've also been to the Korea Republic vs Greece, Switzerland vs Chili and England vs Slovenia games   !

The Americans seem incredibly nervous. They have to get their act together soon or else Ghana will score a second one and call it a day.

In the 3 games he played for us Clark seemed pretty decent actually, but today he was awful. And now the US is at it again, wasting their chances. Findley should've made it 1:1.

From part 4

Quoting EZEIZA (Reply 211):

defending is not a dishonorable tactic. It can be boring for the neutral spectator, but its perfectly honrable.

Quoting mirrodie (Reply 208):
However, as you can see, I was clearly able to back up my statements with video

a video of Gilardino diving ina Milan game? come on ...

Defending is necessary. Diving and acting is dishonorable. It's cheap.

Gilardino in the video, simply an example. But as I said, think of the length to which a corporation went to ridicule what is a widely known phenomenon.

Only real issue is when NIck accuses me of hating Italy which I don't.

It's similar to my feelings on Argentina. I love seeing Maradona, his team in action and his relationship with the team.
But he's such a arrogant guy and a huge Chavez supporter. Love their play, really dont care for him as a person and vice versa regarding ITA.

Let's go USA. Forget the early goal, show some aggression and make it happen!

I have to say though, the calls have been very good so far....

Then why are we still hearing this? You got to be kidding, you have been beating this Italy is the only team that dives crap a little too much. Enough.

US played a crap half, should be lucky it's only a one goal lead.

It went from 2-0 Slovenia winning to 2-2 (should've been Slovenia 2-USA 3 if it wasn't for that stupid ref), so the USA still has plenty of time to beat Ghana. Go USA!

Never said they were the ONLY team, but that they are good at it, do it often and do it best, so much so that there are commercials about it.

It will be enough,/b> when you cease and desist from putting words in my mouth. :-/ It you can find the post where I stated ITA was the ONLY one, back it up and support the argument.

Otherwise, to once again use your parlance, ENOUGH putting words in my mouth.

US really needs to wake up. It's like they aren't even there. WTF?

PS Was that Beckham on the US sideline? And whats with Clinton, is he a huge US soccer supporter?

WTF is Altidore doing? Some of the defenders have ran further than he has. At least make an attempt to run to space, and press Ghana's defence.

The Sontag
IMHO, this opinion of foreign observers is one of the reasons why Germany is successful over and over again. Never ever underestimate the power of the Turniermannschaft

I have 1 word for you, German fans, why it won't be successful this time: BADstuber. Badstuber = BAD for you, German defence. I'm not as knowledgeable as England coach, but if I were him, I'd run Rooney at Badstuber all day long, and get at least 1-2 goals out of him.

Timmy Howard was caught out of position again in Ghana game. I noticed he's been playing way out front of the goal posts for the last 2 games, and has paid dearly for it. I guess Ghana exposes the truth among the myths in this WCup that the US is NOT that good. Anyhow, job well done this WCup for Team America! Good job guys! Appreciate your 110% efforts! Getting better at this thing in each successive World Cups. Maybe 50yrs from now we can win the darned thing and keep it in America

What is the cost of a seat? I am just curious how much they charge in South Africa during the World Cup for an average seat?

Here in Monaco at Stade Louis II the cost is 5 Euros during regular championship matches year round for a decent seat, something everybody can afford.

I wonder how many local South Africans can afford to buy seats to the World Cup matches?

To be fair Ghana is pretty quick and they were playing solid in the 1st half. The US is playing better football than I have seem against a tougher team, and they are rising to the occasion now. The US made some good adjustments in the 2nd half.

Imagine what the United States could achieve if they realized football matches don't start in the 40th minute and that it's helpful if you don't aim directly at the goolkeeper when you're alone in front of the goal.

Yep! Even though I'm a US supporter, Dempsey clearly dived; the Ghanian defender got all ball. I've seen some US players dived so much in this game: Dempsey, Altidore namely. Disappointed really!

That's it for the US unfortunately. They seemed tired at the end of the second half already, and now they're trailing again. There's only so much a team can take.

Absolutely true, but that's how they've been playing. You're correct...amazing what they could do if they knew it was a 90 minute game (or 120 in this case)

I think this game is Ghana's to lose at this point

Good bye World Cup fever in the United States.

It's sad but Football won't be important here until the US are among the best.

Congrats to Ghana...well deserved...

They way they're playing...I wouldn't discount them for an upset on Uruguay at this rate.

Uruguay has a world-class offense. Forlan and Suarez won't waste chances like Feilhaber, Findley and Altidore have today.

I feel kinda bad for Team USA, the spirit they showed throughout the tournament had me really rooting for them. But at the end of the day you can't afford to both waste your chances and then give away goals so easily.

Agreed. Uruguay will show them their limits!

What a pity for the USA. Especially since they had some good possiblities to score some more goals. The defence and goalkeeper Howard didn't look good at all when Boateng scored Ghana's first goal, the second one could have been avoided as well. I think they are not going to get these kinds of chances one more time.

A deserved win for Ghana, the US seemed to lack the experience of playing extra time. Donovan was good, but some players were not good enough.

Anyway nice playing. I still think, though that this world cup has some unfortunate games in the round of the last 16. Many favourites already meet there.

Germany vs England, Spain vs Portugal do not belong in the round of the last 16, I think, when there are games like Uruguay - South Korea at the same time. But this is the way it is, nothing to do about it.

Too bad about the US not making it. I was predicting a tie after extra time and the US winning in penalties. Let's see how Ghana will do against Uruguay, which has the advantage of having fresher players than Ghana because they didn't play extra time. Ghana deserved this victory.

Tomorrow is the big day. Of couse I remain hopeful Germany will beat the English back to the stone age, but in return, I'm hoping for Mexico to win against Argentina. It's not because I fear Argentina, it's because I hate Maradona and want to see him cry like back in 1990.
