Borussia Dortmund - Bayer Leverkusen

The complete schedule of the 1. Bundesliga is here.

Some great games for the first matchday! Can't wait for the new season to start!

Has it been confirmed if Raul is leaving Real for Schalke 04?

I agree. I can't wait to watch Bayern-Wolfsburg on Friday, then HSV-Schalke and the other games on Saturday and on Sunday I'll finally go again to the Westfalenstadion to watch BVB-Leverkusen. Sounds like a great weekend to me.

Same here, the summer break always feels like it is endless.

Quoting aviationmaster (Reply 1):

Schalke only needs his signature under the contract according to the Bild, they were also reporting that Misimovic is probably coming to Schalke.

I also read in the latest print edition of the Kicker that the VfL Bochum is interested in some player from the North Korean national team, I forgot the guy's name but his nickname is apparently "Asia's Beckham".

Glad that 1. F.C. Kaiserslautern made it back to 1. Bundesliga after a few seasons in the 2nd tier group... Now lets hope it lasts awhile...

Same here, especially considering how almost all of Bayern's normal starting line-up is still in South Africa. And judging by van Gaal usually using players who are the fittest and not necessarily the biggest names, I'd expect this line-up for Bayern against Wolfsburg:

Kraft
-
Braafheid
Breno
van Buyten
Contento
-
Ribery (hey, he went home early)
Altintop
Tymosh...
Pranjic
Alaba
-
Olic

Exiting line-up, right  ?

Indeed! And such a line-up doesn't only have to play on the first matchday of the Bundesliga, there is also the Supercup and DFB Pokal before.

Edit:

And now it is official, the VfL Bochum hired the North Korean national player Jong Tae-Se. More info here.

And if we may believe Bild, Ajax & Bayern have agreed on the transfer of Vd Wiel for a sum of 15-20 million euros.

Vd Wiel is only deciding after the World Cup, but I'd guess he'd go.

Don't buy the whole Ajax team empty please, I can see Stekelenburg and Suarez go already. Anyway, good luck in the Bundesliga, a very strong competition where he'll face stronger strikers than in the Eredivisie, thus making him better.

Edit: spelling

It is apparently true, several German sports newspapers (Kicker, Revier-Sport) are reporting the same. It is a smart move to buy an additional top player, Bayern has a lot of upcoming games in three competitions (Bundesliga, German Cup, and Champions League) and I am sure that van Gaal wants to win all of them in the upcoming season.

Indeed, especially seeing as how this will allow Lahm to move back to the left side and replace Contento/Braafheid/Pranjic/whoever else and finally give Ribery a back-up player that can actually support him in the offense as well, which hopefully means Ribery will be back in old shape. And on the right side, you'd have the Oranje-Express with van der Wiel and Arjen "Ich ziehe auch diese Saison wieder in die Mitte und schieß etliche Traumtore" Robben   .

I predict world-class games from Bayern when it will come like this!

Good that Lufthansa is a Bayern sponsor, I guess I will blow 20.000 miles for a ticket to watch a top Bundesliga game or a Champions League game in the Allianz Arena in the upcoming season.

I'm looking forward to matchday 4, when we can destroy the HSV at the Millerntor.   And for the record, I want to try everything so I can be at the derby next winter, with the FC St. Pauli in the Auswärtsblock in the Arena.

Are you club member or member of a Pauli fan club? It not, it will be hard to impossible to get tickets for the game. I will not know how many people want to watch the first Hamburger derby after so many years.

Patrick

By the way, the World Cup is almost over but we don't have to pass on football next week because there are a few test-games:

Monday: 18:30 Uhr, SPORT1: Testspiel: SV Werder Bremen - KFC Uerdingen (Live)
Tuesday: 19:15 Uhr, SPORT1: Testsspiel. SF Lotte Osnabrück - Borussia Dortmund (Live)
Wednesday: 20:25 Uhr, SPORT1: Testspiel: Hajduk Split - Hamburger SV (Live)

Try eBay a few weeks before the game, it is a good place to get tickets for games that are officially sold-out, they are very expensive though.

Oh, I forgot that you can't receive Sport1. It is beyond me that they didn't broadcast via DVB-T! You get all sort of rubbish channels but not a decent sports channel.

Too bad that I don't have the choice anymore since I have an office job. When I served my civil service, I always took the lateshift on Tuesdays... a few friends and me used to meet every Monday night in a bar to watch 2. Liga and to play Skat, I could stay there and have a few drinks until 1am and was totally fit on the next day because I could sleep till noon.

Here in Hamburg, they show crap such as Bibel TV and 9Live, yet I'd prefer to change them with additional Dritte Programme (specifically HR, RBB, SWF and SR). Curiously enough, I have duplicate channels as well, a few other "regional" versions of the NDR, MDR, WDR and BR. I mean, I pay a shitload of money to the thieves at the GEZ, and can't even get all Dritte Programme, plus other of the digital programmes from ARD like EinsFestival and EinsPlus.

From what I see, Sport1 is NOT available in ANY DVB-T region. Maybe the owners (ProSiebenSat1?) don't want to pay the necessary fees so their channel is available on DVB-T, or simply want to "encourage" people to pay for their expensive programming via Cable and Internet. Yet we get Bibel TV, something only religious fanatics would watch, and 9Live which is either bad erotic videos, some weird teleshopping, and of course their Abzocke.

It's still a mistery why the LMA in charge of supervising 9Live hasn't forced them out. Even Kanal Telemedial was forced out of the air quicker (though despite the fact that the Channel was from Germany, it was broadcast with an Austrian licence, and it was the Austrians who pulled the plug on Kanal Telemedial). But that's a different story...

And by the way, Sport1 didn't show the Werder test-game yesterday evening, instead they showed World Cup classics. I really hope that they will show the Osnabrück-BVB game this evening despite I can only watch the second half.

It just happens that during my days off, there's the Supercup! I didn't really know that, so I hope the Supercup will be on ARD or ZDF (just as long as we don't have to put up with Katrin Müller-Hohenstein, Oliver Kahn and Béla Réthy   ).

I have no clue either where they will show it, I looked on the ARD and ZDF websites but their program schedule for August is not published yet. I only know that kick-off is at 17:45h already, that sucks big time IMO. Why not a 20:30h kick-off time?

Kahn and KMH only analyze games of our national team but Rethy could be the commentator when the ZDF will show the game.

By the way, the radio station L1VE called KMH "Oli Kahns Dompteurin" in a comedy lately.

The official fan shops of the clubs are the best places to buy jerseys IMO (click here for the Eintracht's shop). Another shop that is worth a look is this one: http://www.fanandmore.de/fussballportal (you get almost every football jersey you want there).

While we are at it... Bastian Schweinsteiger was seen while playing football with a few friends in Munich's Englischer Garten last week. Now guess what jersey he was wearing.... it was Lampard's jersey from the World Cup game vs. England, both swapped their jerseys after the game. At least is Schweinsteiger wearing his collected jerseys, all of mine are hanging here at home and nobody except me and my girlfriend is allowed to touch them.  Wink

Yes, that means indeed that you have to pay 45 EUR shipping fee. This is friggin' outrageous! Last year I ordered a pair of Nike SBs from the USA and I only paid approx. 25 USD shipping fee (and a pair of shoes is heavier and bigger than a football jersey).

They are not framed, I have a lot of them and it would be too expensive to buy a frame for every of them. They are hanging on clothes hangers in the room that we use as our office. I am looking forward to next week, then I'll get two very special jerseys: Nelson Valdez's jersey that he wore in the World Cup game vs. New Zealand and Lucas Barrios' jersey that he wore in the World Cup game vs. Slovakia. My first "match-worn" jerseys from a national team.

I know that it is quite complicated to stay in touch with sports leagues from other countries when you don't have expensive pay-tv. I wish I could see more of the Premier League instead of a only 45 minute lasting summary every Monday night. The Primera Division is a league they don't show at all in the German free-tv, I have to watch the games of my beloved FC Barca via internet stream (in more or less the worst quality).

Patrick

PS: Something interesting for all German members, the tv-station HR will show the opening game of the 3. Liga live on Friday night at 20:15h. I am really looking forward to another Friday night live game. My girly is at her volleyball training so I can sit here with a few beers while watching the game and relaxing after a week of work.

I can't believe it, Schalke 04 has hired Raul from Real Madrid, click here for a press release on their website. It is beyond me how someone can go from Real to Schalke, they must give him a shitload of money. And even with Raul, this will be another season with everyone else as champion in the end but not Schalke.

Some sad news: Karl-Heinz Wildmoser - ex president of 1860 Munich - has died today.

For Schalke it will be as always at the end of the upcoming season:

- no German Championship
- no Pokalsieger
- out of the Champions League after the preliminary round

PS: Anyone interested in a Tippspiel? I will look in the upcoming days if Sportschau.de has one online already.

Massive pulmonary embolism is said to be the cause of death. Pretty much the same thing my father almost died of, but he was pretty damn lucky, unlike Wildmoser. For something like this to happen after surgery, something must have gone wrong with the blood thinners (either the anticoagulants were bad, or they took him off the blood thinners too quickly). There's no joking with that in terms of what can go wrong after surgery, especially with the fact that cheap medication is used for cost cutting measures by hospitals and physicians.

May he rest in peace.

For Schalke it will be as always at the end of the upcoming season:

- no German Championship
- no Pokalsieger
- out of the Champions League after the preliminary round

Don't forget: No Supercup either.

PS: Anyone interested in a Tippspiel? I will look in the upcoming days if Sportschau.de has one online already.

Sportschau.de can't do one anymore because of the current Rundfunk-Staatsvertrag. But the website where the Tippspiel used to be, www.tippklick.de, is still there, but they're starting the Tippspiel in mid-august. But if you organise one, I'm definitely in. BTW: Where has Konstantinos gone recently?

And here's the big question: How the hell can Schlacke afford Raúl, being constantly close to a total Bankrott as they are?

I am asking myself the same. A few months ago they were with 234 million EUR in debt and now they can pay Raul 6 million EUR per year.

Oh yes, Supercup is Saturday in one week. The first title for Bayern.

It is so utterly ridiculous that the public-law tv and radio stations have to reduce their internet offerings.

The best is that they claim that they will become champion till matchday #30, then goes everything down the drain because they always leave points at world-class clubs like VfL Bochum or Mainz 05.    I really hope that we can say after matchday #30 "Here we go again, Schalke".

Only if Bayern can get enough players ready, I'm not sure the docs are officially licensed to play for them   .

What happened there? I heard something on the radio today but I didn't listen carefully enough because I had to concentrate on the traffic beside. Has van Gaal changed a player for a guy of his coaching team during a game?

Bayern had a test game scheduled last week against the local Trentino team during training camp, and vG didn't have enough actual players for his test, because most players were (are) still on vacation after the World Cup and most amateurs save for 6 were needed for the Bayern II game, so to have enough players, he put the fitness coach (Martins) into the game for the last 20 minutes, with the team doc Hänsel also being available for a substitution, though he wasn't needed. Oh, and goalkeeper Kraft played Innenverteidiger during the second half. Certainly anything but ideal training conditions.

Incredible.  Wow! So I heard right yesterday when there was a report about this game on the radio.

And the shit continues after the 2nd matchday because of a useless friendly game of the national team vs. Denmark. Many Bayern players will be away for a few days and can't come to the training. Uli Hoeness said in the Bild a few weeks ago that the Bayern players should boycott the friendly game and actually I do agree with him. Maybe the guys at the DFB and UEFA will finally wake up then and realize that it is retarded to disturb the national leagues after two matchdays already.

Latest Bundesliga news: Khedira signed a contract at Real Madrid. Apparently they paid 14 million Euros for him. He got a contract till 2015 with a yearly salary of 3 million Euros.

In all fairness, it isn't the DFB and the UEFA who makes the schedule, they simply give their blessing to it. The people responsible are in Zürich, at the headquarters of FIFA, under the service of Joseph Septic Blatter. FIFA does the schedues, and the federations are bound to stick to it.

In Latin America, that's the reason why those appointments are called "Fechas FIFA" (FIFA matchdays). FIFA is overloading the schedules without taking into account continental competitions like the Copa Sudamericana in South America, the Champions League and Europaleague in Europe, and without allowing the national leagues to properly conclude preseason and get a decent start into e.g. the Bundesliga.

I'm gonna say, Bayern won't win the Liga-Cup:

Quote:

This is ridiculous.

PS: A friend sent me a text earlier today, he was at the season opening day at Schalke, at first he bought the new Schalke jersey and then he got the original signatures of all players (incl. Raul) on it. I wrote him back that he should bring the jersey to me because I run out of toilet paper.

I saw how Christoph Metzelder made himself popular in Schalke, with his Bock Pass to van Nistelrooy. And the funniest comment from Hansi Küpper was about the BVB Metzelder Fanclub, when he mentioned that after news came in about Metzelder going to Schlacke, that the Fanclub dissolved within seconds after the transfer became public.

This was indeed the case. Schalke announced at noon that the Metzelder transfer is perfect, the fan club's website was offline at 3pm but online again at 6pm with the remark that the fan club doesn't exist anymore.

Calling it a B-Team is pretty optimistic, D-Team is more like it   . I mean, look at this line-up:
Sattelmaier - Erb, Haas, Tymoshchuk, Contento - Ottl, Pranjic - Mujic (54. Sansone), Sosa, Olic - Hajdarovic (31. Demichelis)

And now, aparently van Buyten way injured during the amateur game (which he played because the game was in Munich and his wife is in labor), so yet another pro down.

Well, until the 89th minute they were    . Oh well, considering they were missing 9 of their regular players as well (5 with the a-team, 4 injured) and that in the 29th minute Gerland had to bring in the backup goalkeeper as a forward for the injured Sene, thus completely emptying the bench...

Oh, I know situations like that. My favorite B Kreisliga... errr... now C Kreisliga team is specialized in leading till the 85th minute just to lose the game after the opponent team scores twice or even trice in the last two minutes.

And WTF is that? The Sportstudio finally begun and they don't show football from today at first? Shame on them!

In a way, it's probably his fault as well. If I was him, and I knew my wife (if I ever get to have one) is in labour, then I'd politely tell my manager that my family goes first and I need to be at the hospital with her. I'm sure van Gaal and Gerland would have been sufficiently kulant to let him go.
