Self Gloss- I Got My PPL

So I never thought I would post one of these silly threads. However, for this occasion, I thought why not.
I now officially have my PPL! 
I received a scholarship through Air Cadets for a seven week course along with 32 other cadets from British Columbia.
For many years I have worked towards this day, and it was quite a ride. The days were long but it was all more than worth it.
Most of the time, I flew out of, YBL. It was pretty quiet there most of the time which was nice because it wasn't usually busy in the circuit. The scenery was truly incredible as well. I'd like to thank all of my fellow A.net members for the support and advice they have given me in the past years. The journey is only beginning!

Many Congrats to you on becoming an Airman, or is it Airwoman - ok, Aviatrix?

I have no doubt you enjoyed departure stalls and spin entry training as much as I did... However, I prefer the training I had at a busy SNA compared to YBL - nothing like being in a C-172 while following an AA 757 on the taxiway and having a WN 737 behind ya   Oh, and the approach to 19L around 5pm on a weekday, don't get me started - you haven't lived!!!

Congrats!!  

Just a piece of advice.. don't become a professional pilot.. it's a risky business with high unemployment, especially amongst pilots fresh out of the school.. I'm talking from personal experience..

Still applying whenever I have energy to do so.. However, now I've started studying economics while I am waiting for better job opportunities.. hopefully it will be easier in the future

Congratulations. A PPL is a big achievement. If you enjoyed getting it as much as i did, you'll enjoy using it much more.

Hearty congratulations - you have achieved something a miniscule few ever do - you can call yourself, "Pilot."

So many adventures ahead, doing things you might before have only dreamed of doing - I woke up this morning in Florida, flew home to Dallas, and the plane waited for me- because it was mine! You'll fill in the blanks with your own stories, andthey'll be good ones.

Congratulations Devon,

Getting your PPL is a big step. I remember getting mine a while ago and it was one of the proudest days of my life. I wish you good luck on your CPL course. I have a few things I could advise you on, if I may. I may repeat what others have said.

- SAFETY should be your number one priority.
- Always strive more knowledge.
- On top of abiding by CARs, and staying within limits, set your own limits. Don't do something you're not comfortable, even though it may be legal.
- Don't let others pressure you into doing things beyond your ability, be it your instructors, ATC or anyone else.
- Study, Study, Study
- Get that CPL written as soon as you can
- Make sure you keep track of the hours you need for your CPL. Remember the x-country, hood time, night, pic, 65 hours of "actual CPL" training, etc.
- HAVE FUN!!!

By the way, if you ever need any help with your CPL, let me know. I have everything from great notes (that I can scan and e-mail to you) to good advice on the CPL flight test, CPL exam, and many more.
