Of course, I'm tipping for the BVB, 4:3. Why 4:3? Because it's the two best offensive teams in the whole Bundesliga, so it's bound to become a small Schützenfest, not because of a bad defence, but because of a strong offence.

Klaus Toppmöller ist top contender at getting the job in Köln. Only condition: If he comes, Michael Meier has to go.

If I was Wolfgang Overath, I'd definitely choose Toppi over Meier der Pleitegeier, even if it costs a big Abfindung. The investment of getting rid of Meier for Toppi as Trainer would be more worth than keeping Meier and risking that the club has to eventually file for Insolvenz if they let Meier throw away the entire money of a once debt-free club.

The BVB is planning for the future and got Moritz Leitner from 1860. It made the news here in Austria as he is half Austrian but he already choose to become a German a few years ago. He played U17 for us and U19 for Germany.

Quite an interesting victory for Bayern tonight. Not so much the fact that they won 4:2 against Freiburg, but rather, who scored the goals for Bayern:
1:0 - Martin Demichelis, aka the guy who hasn't played good months and for the last weeks didn't play at all.
2:0 - Mario Gomez, aka the guy van Gaal didn't like for a long time and who failed to score any goals for an even longer time.
3:1 - Anatoly Tymo, aka the other guy van Gaal didn't like for a long time and who didn't really play under vG at all until like 3 weeks ago.

Will be interesting to see what kind of headline the Bild-Zeitung will come up with...

Another crazy matchday today. The HSV lost in Cologne and Werder lost at home vs. the Club! Not so surprising: The Eintracht turned the game in Pauli and won with 3:1 (Gekas scored twice) and Wolfsburg won vs. Stuttgart. At the moment is Asozial 04 playing vs. Leverkusen and I hope for a 5:0 victory for Heynckes' team.  

Oh yes, I almost forgot.... Zweite Liga, Gladbach ist dabei, zweite Liga, Gladbach ist dabei!

Gladbach is so weak, that is almost pathetic. When you look at the board, the have the same win-draw-lose stats like Schlacke (1-3-7), but their goals are 14-30 instead of 10-17. They are getting 3 goals per game. Maybe their goalie should apply for the British citizenship, so he can play for England.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Too bad that Mainz and Dortmund can't both win, but their pursuers Hoffenheim and Hannover can't either.

It's nicer because they are actually winning games. In addition, the Abstieg has created a lot of support for the team. The most important reason is probably that tickets are now cheaper. This is still Berlin, after all.

I didn't see it, but I saw him last week. He always pretends to be a calm, friendly, and rationale guy. However, his past actions at Schlacke that I read about (firing the fan co-ordinator, fining Rakitic and Jones 10,000 € each at halftime) and his general behaviour looks somewhat different.

I don't know what'S wrong with Werder, I haven't seen much of them so far. Naldo and Borowski are injured, those are two important players, althoug they may have had their best times. Silvestre seems not to live up to the expectations he raised when he signed. Marin is a joke player in my eyes, he should go back to C-Youth until he has grown up (physically). Arnautovic seems to be a guy bringing in bad atmosphere. Mertesacker might be in the post-World-Cup hole, and Frings could be over the peak, too. But again, I haven't seen that much of them so far.

That was all very strange. Rafinha and Westermann left for 16 millions, because they needed money, but then they got Huntelaar for 14 millions, while Kuranyi left for ZERO. They also have some players like Raúl and Jurado, who need to adapt to Germany first. In addition, they have a large group of Spanish-speaking players, they might form a unit of themselves, which is not good for the overall team spirit.

Bankruptcy would be great for Schlacke, but I see already the rescue packages being made by the state of NRW for such a "great and long-standing club". Tax payer's money for people earning millions a year.

I always like his angry outbreaks. He is very honest and straight, and he has a lot of competence and success. The phrase with Timoschuk reminds me of Jan Åge Fjørtoft, when he said that with all the injured players, the coach only had the choice between him and the bus driver, and the bus driver forgot his shoes, so he (Fjørtoft) had to play.

Just imagine the outrage at the BVB. They'd probably ask why Schlacke gets a bailout when they, in a similar situation, would have been left to die back when the BVB was near Insolvenz. St. Pauli also didn't get a bailout from the Hamburg state government, but was instead rescued by its fans and in part by the participation of the FC Bayern.

If Schlacke does get a bailout from Ministerpräsidentin Kraft, and I hope this will never happen, I'd be fucking outraged about it. If neither St. Pauli and the BVB got a bailout from their respective state governments in times of trouble, why would Schalke 04 need one?

Was surprised to see such an open attack from Hoeness on Van Gaal. I can somewhat imagine his frustration as Van Gaal has the reputation of being a notoriously independent and headstrong person. Certainly not an easy man to work with but Bayern knew this when they signed him. Van Gaal will probably feel that he is stabbed in the back by Hoeness and he's not the kind of person to take that lightly. Not sure what Hoeness expects to gain by this action.

No, he gave away his whole defense line and that's why they are in such trouble. Magath is somebody who likes to change his whole squad every summer, but it seems it didn't work out this time.

Right, Özil. I only see him at Madrid and the national team, I forgot where he was before. Allofs spent a lot of money for people like Carlos Alberto, Marin, and Arnautovic. They need to act with care, Werder won't sell a player like Diego or Özil every season (meaning, they need to be careful with money. Can't afford too many of those "Rohrkrepierer").

I agree, every word was true. He was so right, Bayern played in that old and outdated Olympic stadium, with the track and only half a roof, then he builds this great new stadium, and what do people do? Complain.    Only in Germany, I tell you. If you see this to the end, people do applause him there.

Hoeneß has probably done more for football than anybody else in Germany in the last 30 years. He has won all those titles, he has built a great and competitive team, he has paid tons of money in transfer fees to other clubs in Germany, he has helped all other teams that get a sold-out home game at higher prices when they play against Bayern, he made the new stadium possible, his club is financially healthy, he helped clubs like St.Pauli, he has helped people like Gerd Müller with their troubles. And why he did all that, he also built his sausage company which supplies both Aldi (you need to be good to do that) and Feinkost Käfer.

No other manager can match that, no Willi Lemke, Michael Meier, Rainer Calmund, Klaus Allofs, NOBODY!

People like him probably have to listen to a lot of BS and to a lot of dumb criticism, despite all that they do. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds" as Mr. Einstein would say. I understand he sometimes gets angry, but it is probably often calculated to wake people up.

I only wish he had won more European titles, but he just didn't have the same amount of money from TV rights etc. that clubs in Spain and England have.

Well, Werder once again made a mockery out of themselves, losing 0:2 against Twente, and Schlacke was the usual boooring stuff. But hey, at least in the 5-Jahres-Wertung we had the help of Tottenham who beat Inter 3:1.

I'm a happy chappy. My team Twente won their first ever CL game and what better way to do that than by winning away against a German team. They also won away against PSV last Sunday, their first win in Eindhoven in 38 (!) years, which brought them to the top of the league so it's been a fantastic week for Twente.

That being said, the fact that Schlacke embarassed itself against a Fußball-Entwicklungsland like Israel is just as bad, if not worse, not because it's a team from Israel getting a tie out of a German team, it's because we're talking about FC Schalke 04, a team considered an embarassment by the entire Ruhrgebiet (except perhaps in Herne (Ost) aka Gesindelkirchen).

There have been many embarrassments by German teams in the European cups in the last years. Only Bayern has been good over a substantial period of time.

Yes, without them we would look very silly in the European competitions.

Gomez is a good example of the lousy work van Gaal deliveres at Bayern. He was a great scorer at Stuttgart, they paid 30(!) Million Euros for him, that's 60 Million Mark, then comes van Gaal, says "not a player that I wanted to get" and basically destroys him (macht ihn kaputt). Same with Timoschuk.

I don't care what he won with Barca and Ajax, this is just stupid and not how you treat your employees. Especially not when they are such precious items as well.

I'm confused, isn't Gelsenkirchen West of Herne?? Dortmund is North of Lüdenscheid.

I think "Schlacke" or "Schlacke 05" is OK, also "Gesindelkirchen", but I guess we shouldn't call them "Scheiße", that is a bit too much. Irony yes, but insults or hatred no.

Well, at least in the "EuroLeague" we are pretty successful. Victories for both Leverkusen (though lucky as all hell) and Stuttgart, as well as a draw by Dortmund against PSG.

Beyond belive, the currently - almost - last one of the Bundesliga table is doing friggin' good in the Euro League and the currently first one of the Bundesliga is playing like shit in the Euro League.

The amount of liabilities they have are already known and were discussed here before. The real question is why the DFL is still giving them a Spiellizenz. If this was e.g. Dynamo Dresden, VfB Lübeck or Stuttgarter Kickers, they wouldn't even have survived the Lizenzierungsverfahren, yet it seems to me that Schlacke got an Extrawurst.

I sincerely doubt Raúl would even be willing to play unterklassig. He'd probably rather play for Barcelona than play in the zweite Liga.
