Let's see:
1. $225
2. A $100 for a spa treatment (gonna use it after final exams in January)
3. iPod accessories
4. My aunt gave me a gift basket containing Axe products.

In all, this Christmas was a good one.

What I got was a nice evening with my family. Honestly the best and most valued gift I could imagine.

On the material side, I received a couple of presents that all made me very happy. I took a picture of them yesterday:

I myself gave away gift cards and chocolate for the most part (you can't go wrong with that), except where I knew something in particular.

what is that?

5.11 Tactical is a clothing company catering to the Law Enforcement/Security/Military crowd. Among other things, they make a tight fitting undershirt like Under Armour does, only less expensive. I bought the 5.11 version as a gift to myself as my UA shirts need replacement and I wanted to see if 5.11 worked for me. It does.

A one-week pre-Christmas trip to Hawaii and San Francisco with Lufthansa - First Class - and United F over water - that I booked using my own Frequent Flyer miles.

Thank you Lufthansa for the wonderful First Class Terminal at Frankfurt airport.
You saved me from the chaos in the airport!

A lot of flight disruptions and bad weather all the way. Reversed time in Hawaii.
Still a good trip nevertheless.

Oh and I forgot... Thank you Lufthansa for the goodies... slippers, polo shirts, PJ and everything else!

Best thing of all - almost my entire immediate family around one huge table for Christmas dinner. We haven't managed that for many years, so it's been a great Christmas to remember.

Present wise I received some money, a couple of new 1.5TB hard drives so I can finally shift everything off my PC and install a new OS, some camera accessories, a reference book for my studies and enough chocolate to completely reverse all the hard work I've done losing weight. As a graduation/Christmas present my family have also paid for my seat on the Hello sightseeing flight over the Alps.

I guess we as a family also got a cat too, as a few days ago we adopted a stray kitten after confirming that it was homeless.

I got an external hard drive to back up my photos. Some new clothes and a lot of SF Giants World Series memorabilia. Since I don't like in the Bay Area and that stuff isn't readily available where I live, my parents saw it as a great opportunity for gifts. The best gift though was them ACTUALLY winning the series!!

The best thing so far this Christmas was seeing my mom's reaction when she received a laptop computer from me and my brothers. It's been a rough year for her and her old desktop computer added to the stress as she depends on it for work. The new computer should help her out in many ways, so that was a special moment seeing her open it.

One thing I received is a 16GB Sony Walkman with a 2" color screen, an FM radio option, an equalizer, and noise-cancelling earbuds. Quite nifty! Very happy with it so far. (Ironically, I had just ditched an old cassette/FM Walkman from 20 years ago or so.)

Shopping online this afternoon for a leather case for it while browsing more music files on my MacBook to copy over—it doesn't sync with iTunes for Macs.

Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Christmas.

A great early morning with my mother and brother. A great late morning with my father, stepmother, and brother. And a great afternoon reading new books and watching the Ken Burns "Baseball" series. And a wonderful dinner with mother and brother at night. With a great talk with a wonderful woman thrown in. Oh, and the early Christmas present was a new job giving legal advice in New Zealand. Pretty good day and week!

The gifts this year were small in nature, but large in thought, and were exactly what I needed:

Groceries. From canned food to milk to produce, I received enough food to last me several weeks. Something that I really needed.

$30 gift card and $20 cash: These will help me purchase clothes.

A christmas drawing from my Fiancee: A beautiful gift, because it's unique and because she's very talented and puts a lot of heart into her artwork. She's in animation school so her work is very professional.

Thats all, but these gifts will help a lot.

I got to listen to my mother-in-law gripe to my wife about how miserable their side of the family is, and my wife joined in with the bitch session.

Oh wait - it's still going! With no end in sight!

I think this is the first time in history I've ever found myself wishing for Monday to arrive.

In the grand scheme of things though, I'm still grateful to have family to celebrate with, a roof over my head, good health (save for the knee), etc.

Tell them to stay away from the sheep, no matter how pretty they are, and all will be just fine.

Bourne Trilogy on Blu Ray

Sounds like a great gift!

Quoting EA CO AS (Reply 47):
I got to listen to my mother-in-law gripe to my wife about how miserable their side of the family is, and my wife joined in with the bitch session.

Oh wait - it's still going! With no end in sight!

Hang in there man, we feel your pain!
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world
The heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings
The heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own
