Sad news. He did go out with a bang though, with two of the best movies of 2010 - The Town and Inception! Not a huge part in Inception, but still...

Can't remember a performance I didn't enjoy, he was great in In the Name of the Father.

Woke up this sad news as well, this guy was one of the best and it's a shame to lose him so soon!

He played the most pivotal role in 'The Constant Gardner' with Rachel Weiss and Ralph Fiennes. He certainly will be missed by views who like great work.

I always enjoyed watching him act. He could be different people rather effectively.

One of the reasons The Usual Suspects was such a great movie. Liked him as Sgt Hakeswill as well.

RIP

Very sad news. I always thought he was a fantastic actor.

His role as the proud, dignified working class band leader in Brassed Off was played to absolute perfection and remains one of my favourite screen performances.

May he rest in peace.

Such a defined actor. I read about this on my iPhone application Qrank. Loved him in the Town, Jurassic Park, and the Usual Suspects. One of his best roles was the Treasure Island remake for television with Charleton Heston and Christian Bale. I think that is the best version of the timeless classic. RIP Pete.

I will always remember him as "Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill" in 'Sharpe', where he was cast alongside Sean Bean.

RIP!

A big loss to the British film industry.

Steven Spielberg said of Postlethwaite "He's the best actor in the World." In a typical piece of understated self-deprecation, Postlethwaite claimed Spielberg had been misquoted and probably said "Postlethwaite thinks he's the best actor in the World".
