Ferrari FF Unveiled

Actually unveiled a week ago, but just came across the pictures today. Here is the new Ferrari, named "FF" (for Ferrari Four) and it will be the replacement of the 612 Scaglietti.

Engine: V12 @ 65º,
Displacement: 6.3L / 382.1 cu in
Power: 660 hp / 492 KW @ 8000 rpm
Torque: 683 Nm / 504 ft lbs @ 6000 rpm
Gearbox: 7-speed, dual clutch
Drivetrain: All wheel drive
Weight: 1790 kg / 3946.3 lbs
Acceleration: 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.7 sec.
Top speed: 335 km/h / 208 mph

It's been a while now that I'm not enjoying the style of Ferraris. I think the last elegant Ferrari produced was the 575 Maranello. I did not enjoy the 612, the Enzo, the F430, the California and the 458 Italia. Unfortunately, the FF is another disappointment to me. The profile reminds me the BMW Z4 Coupé.

However, on the engineering side, I don't doubt it will be another stunning machine.

Face it, if you don't enjoy the stunning elegant beauty 458 Italia you are pretty much lost to mankind.



On another forum I visit folks are raving about the FF but to me it looks like a truck compared to the 458. It's an interesting design but it lacks elegance and fluidity.

Maybe I'm too harsh in my judgement. I did not say they were ugly, though. It's just that since the Enzo, I'm having difficulties to really like the design of the Ferraris. I never let go any "wow" since the 575 M.

I'd rather drive a Lambo or an Aston than a Ferrari. This might not have been the case 10 years ago.

But it's a matter of taste, and I might not be a reference as regards good taste

Wow. That is just horrendously ugly.

And I like the 458 design.

But the FF is just awful. Absolutely horrible.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

Wow, seems like the 458 was an accident and Ferrari is back to making ugly cars. It indeed looks like the Z4 Coupe after a couple of botched plastic surgeries.

Or the Z3 coupe. Either way, I am thinking that FF is for Frighteningly Fugly. If you really want to go stupidly fast on the school run you have to go for the Aston Martin Rapide IMO.

Ferrari is most famous for their F1 team and building fast-as-hell two-seater sports cars, not what looks like the love product of a three-way between a 458, a Porsche Panamera and an AMC Pacer. This is simply not a Ferrari. If the FIAT motor company wants to have a 4-seater sports coupe, just continue doing what you are already doing, use Maserati!

Though on the positive side, I can't wait until this car makes it onto Top Gear  .

Gotta agree with you there.

I wonder what prompted Ferrari to build such a car as the FF? We're all scratching our heads here at this one!

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's an engineering marvel, but it's just NOT Ferrari! A bastard child of Fiat maybe but Ferrari? Hell no. Il Professore is spinning in his grave right about now.

Don't worry, he's an overall lost case either way.

My first thought as well when I saw it. And I can say without hesitating that I hate it! Simply ugly!

Give me (how else would I afford one) a Carrera GT with that very nice sounding V10 engine. Maybe I can cut a bit here and there on my current car to make it look like a Carrera GT.

I like it....hated it at first...but think it's sexy lookin now...

FF... Not very innovative these Italians are they?

The British did this 45 years ago.. and likely better!

The Jensen FF-



But I guess not many of Ferrari's current demographic would remember those days!!

Except for the ancient engines and other pensioned off, hand-me-down technology from Ferraris of a bygone era. Maserati still has decent style - but it's a bit sad when a big barge of a Mercedes can leave a Maserati behind.  

This new Ferrari isn't a bad thing - I'm sure it'll look good in the metal, where the photos don't quite.

I don't really like it. I hadn't realized it was a 4 seater at first, too shocked by the 4 wheel drive. I sure hope this won't go into the mid engined models !

This is the best looking Ferrari of the current batch, the California is a ugly, the 458 too girlie looking, the 599 has some very odd angels, so I like it, I like it a lot. Besides there is a lot of Ferrari owners that want more space, this is what Ferrari have come up with for them.

There has always been a Ferrari for 4 people and luggage in the range for a long time. the 456GT was one modern example, the 612 Scaglietti was one of the other fine examples. The 612 was probably my favourite example of this kind of Ferrari - elegant styling and such a polished mechanical package.

There is nothing finer than a large N/A V12 engine - smooth and refined with effortless power. That's where the 612 was so good.

I like the 458. I am not going to judge the FF until I see it on the street. No doubt there will be some out in Monaco soon. I will have to go to the Ferrari shop and see if they are there. The FF design is not my favourite but who knows... Maybe I will like them when I see them in the real world.

The F458 isn't that pretty, the F430 and the F360 looked a lot better.

The FF is ugly, a Z3 from the side, an ugly Japanese comic figure from the front, and boring from behind. The F360 had a nice rear part, but this one with only two round lights doesn't look good.

I don't like it at all. The 612 was a great car but a challenge to sell in many ways. What made it great was it wasn't as flashy as the 458 or 430. It was a sleeper but very powerful and comfortable to drive. There's just something about a 12-cylinder GT. But when Ferrari released the 599 you could get slightly more menacing looks and supercar performance for around the same price ($350k). It pretty much did the 612 in.

Let's just hope they don't botch the 599 replacement.

My thoughts exactly. IMHO, I could kill for the 458! It's sooooooooo sexy and definately my dream car! the FF i think looks like it has some room for storage in the back but i can't really give a proper evaluation until i hear what top gear has to say and/or i see one myself.

Yeah the back totally looks like the BMW Z4 and the front kinda reminds me of the Nissan GTR... Really wish Ferrari could have come up with something better and more unique...

The problem is that the 599 is only a 2 seater, and a pretty hard edged one at that. the 612 is a really different creature. It's a calmer, quieter, softer machine.

The funny thing is that it can be a softly softly machine when desired, but the 612 can also be quite a hard charger too and really hustle along like a proper Ferrari. It's no slouch through corners either, despite its large size. It can keep up with cars you might expect to be much more capable.

It does the split personality of grand-tourer and sports-car very well, probably better than a lot of others have done.

Aston-Martin and Bentley just don't have the same ability.
