Mailing Times From Europe To USA?

Sat Apr 16, 2011 7:48 pm

Hello A.net! I'm a head of a student organization that has started to do flag exchanges between us and similar organizaions of ours in Europe. We need the flags before April 29 for this parade we will be marching in, and I'm starting to get a little worried that many of the flags will not make it in time.

For example, the chapter in Tallinn, Estonia sent us a flag on March 29. It is now April 16 and has not arrived. However, we have already recieved flags from Greece and Italy that were sent on March 30 and April 4 respectively.

How long do you think it takes regular postage mail to arrive in Virginia, USA from the following places? Unfortunately, many of the flags sent do not have tracking numbers.

Tallinn, Estonia
Oroslavje, Croatia
Katowice, Poland
Bucharest, Romania
Korca, Albania

Any advice or help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Might help if you could tell how they where sent. With regular mail, or by express carriers such as DHL, TNT, UPS, FedEx. If one of the express carriers then they probably would have mentioned an estimated delivery date.

When I was in Italy, I mailed myself a post card hours before I caught the shuttle back to FCO. If I recall correctly, it took about 15 days to get here (Nevada).

Sometimes airmail from the UK to the US can take days. I ordered a DVD from Amazon.co.uk on a Monday and it arrived at my home on that same Friday. Regular airmail!

I bought a set of spark plugs from a UK seller, he mailed 'em and I had them in 4 days.

I was amazed.

It depends really on the country in Europe. Basically anything between UK, Netherlands, Belgium and some parts of Germany is within 4,5 days usually in the States. Other countries (especially the ones in Eastern Europe) can take up to weeks, close to a month.
