Nah I rather fly Virgin America to JFK from SFO. I hear that gas is over $4.00 a gallon in the US. I can fly to the real Italy first class for the cost of gas to drive to Little Italy.

Few people use it for nostalgia or as an alternative to Google or Yahoo. It still serves the same purpose as it always has. It is currently owned by Yahoo and Overture Services.

That is true but Moving Pictures wasn't released in quad. There were no more quadraphonic releases by 1981 but Ford, Mercury, Lincoln made quadrasonic decks till 1982.

The logo was a Northwest 747-400 in the Northwest Orient era livery. The photo database wasn't as large.
The forums was pretty much anything goes and there were no moderators at the time. I must say the site has matured a lot since those days. Met some cool people back then and there seemed to be a lot more gatherings back then.
The first Airliners.net meet was at SFO in the TWA terminal. How retro is that?
Non-ticket holders hanging out in the airport and at the TWA terminal. I think about 20 members showed up.
There was also another gathering August 11, 2001. Just 1 month before the 9/11 attacks.
I held off on becoming a member because I never owned a personal computer until fall of 2000. Before then, I'd only use computer at work or at school. Then I got a Compaq Presario in November 2000.

I can't remember when they updated the logo, probably sometime when I was working at the airport here in Seattle between '01-05. I remember them having a poll whether everyone liked the new logo. I joined up on A-net literally from a ticket counter working for an airline. I was bored, had been talking to another airline employee about it and started posting when I was bored.
My earliest memories of A-net were right after 9/11, there was some "mentally challenged" member that posted on every topic, literally ever topic. I can't remember his username but he was everywhere. Maybe it was 'fly pre-medicaton

Agreed.
Also if your credit card expires or you simply change credit cards, your account is disabled until you change over your credit card information. Paying actually becomes a hassle.
