Oh, and let us not forget the Singapore_Air "Solid Excrement Test":

Singapore Airlines: LHR - SIN - SGN (1st Part) (by Singapore_Air Feb 19 2003 in Trip Reports)

Quote:
Seven minutes later, I made my way to the toilet for an inspection. What greeted me is similar to what I saw with previous SIA flights. In the toilet, I only produced watery excrement and hence on this flight, there was no solid excrement test to be had.

Job well done by yourself in that one. I really miss the old days to the point that I have KROC's "KO" pic saved on my hard drive for times when it's needed...

There has been so many hilarious threads during the years.
I definatly remember the OYRJA clog thread. I believe we reached at least 1000 replies in that thread.
But the Do we want Euro in the UK was absolutly a classic as well. haha

But I gotta say tho, that one of the threads that made my day was the one with LHMarks Beetle. I believe he sold it prettty fast after that. haha

train wrecks on this site

In one of the older threads (it might have been one of the various Self-Pic ones), one user (ErikWilliam from Brazil) was literally pleading with other users and the mods in allowing him posting a profile pic of himself fully nude. Needless to say and thankfully, he was NOT allowed to do so.

I also seem to remember a thread around the time the 757-300 was cancelled. They wanted to know if you could kust buy two -200 and make your own -300

All the threads mentioned so far have some redeeming quality - unintended humor, or just a dotty post. To be an epic fail, however, the thread must be well meaning, but make you cringe when you read it. My nomination, before I walk away quietly and stick my head in the oven is this:

Funny, I was thinking about that exact thread. I browsed through at least 70% of the songs and I not a single one brought a smile to my face, quite the contrary in fact. That has to be the corniest thread in a.nut history.

Hi Everyone,

This thread has had a large number of posts removed due to the discussion drifting off topic, and turning into a debate on users, past and present.

Can I please ask that from now on, you all need to stay on topic or we will be forced to lock this thread.

Regards

Ah yes memories of epic threads from days gone by...

Well the aforementioned Bowling Self-gloss (by MCOflyer Sep 1 2008 in Non Aviation) is a personal favorite. The number of people who shared their favorite "bowling" stories was quite impressive. Perhaps someone is driving for is driving for Brunswick bowling products as we speak.

ILS/Flight Level (and his other too numerous to mention names) BMW (with interior by KIA) threads are also on my favorite list. The number of threads spawned here and other places by the thread was quite impressive.

Somehow the top of my list would have to be the entire "Lord of the Snowglobes". The fact that years later the entire epic saga lives on is proof adventures that the thread gave to the entire A.net community.

Someday I will get the courage to ask a nameless former A.netter (from an arid area) to allow me to use his time machine to relive those glorious times in person

IHAP

Zippy convinced me that since I mentioned three favorites I should celebrate with a triple vodka and Tang... perhaps just this once in honor of this thread I think I will comply... perhaps taking wifey bowling might be in order as well
