What Happened To IOS5?

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:39 am

Hey folks,

I was just wondering what happened to iOS5 seeing as we are not already in the end of July and still no updates have become available. Usually they come out even before July.

I am really eager to finally get some of the changes that were presented at the WWDC a while ago, but am clueless as to why nothing has happened yet. Anyone out there know more?

Cheers!

Apple have said Fall, It's currently upto Beta release 3, which has steadily improved since Beta release 1.

I've got Beta 3 running on my phone and whilst it's still quite buggy, One has to remember that it is not an official release and there are still a lot of bugs for Apple to track down and sort out.

Fall seems fairly accurate at this stage.

Are you getting confused with OSX Lion? That is due before month end. iOS 5 isn't due out until northern hemisphere autumn.

No no, I meant iOS and not Lion. I don't have apple laptops or computers, just the phone, so I am not interested in the former

OK thanks for that info! Guess we'll just have to wait then. May I ask why you have beta 3 on your phone? Are you a tester/developer? Just curious

Impatient Fanboy. I was actually at my wits end with the old notification system. Using Text Messaging, Twitter and Facebook (before I closed the account) and getting heaps of notifications on iOS4 had me screaming at stages and after staying up all night to about 5 in the morning local time, to watch the Key Note presentation, There was no way I could wait until 'Fall' (Which is Spring in Australia, annoyingly enough) for the iOs5 improvements.

All in all, It's fantastic, It's better than fantastic. It really makes the iPhone feel like a much more mature product, which I think is great.

Unfortunately, Here I sit, Refreshing like crazy, waiting for Lion to drop. (I don't even know how that's going to work when I require iTunes 10 BETA 3 to Sync my Phone. :/

That's an ironic accusation coming from you

When I watched the keynote, I was also thinking, "finally the iPhone will be able to do what every other phone on the market is capable of doing" - should be good!

Now that - for me - is pure gobbledeegook! As I said before, I only own the phone. Not interested in the rest of the apple products (yet)!

Well, Apparently iOS beta 4 is out now.

I'll probably get it fairly soon.

Another of the recent comments I heard was that you'll be able to set-up Time Machine/Time Capsule from your iOS Device (iPhone/iPad)
