OSX Clock Widgets (Dashboard)

Sun Aug 14, 2011 6:24 pm

Hi guys.

I'm currently looking for a Dashboard widget and was hoping someone here may have some more experience with Clock widgets than I do myself.

I did have quite a good little widget which I'd downloaded when I was on Snow Leopard (http://bremford.org/widgets/worldclock/) but unfortunately, It doesn't play nicely on Lion and if I try to 'add' another time/city, It deletes the field.

I tried emailing the guy who made it but he's deactivated that email account so the email just bounces back and whilst the default clock in Dashboard is fairly decent, when you've got a heap of cities, You end up with clocks everywhere, unlike the one above I linked, which simplifies it and includes the time zone said city is in.

Anyway, If anyone has any recommendations, please do share!

Thanks.
Brendan.

I haven't yet made the switch to Lion- bummer you've lost a good clock widget.

What I've been looking for all this time is a clock widget that displays Zulu time. Haven't found one yet!

I'm using multiple instances of Flip Clock on my Dashboard, and it keeps working under Lion:

Download Flip Clock 1.1.3 Free

Each instance can be set to its own time zone (including UTC if you select the proper time zone) and it displays 12 or 24 hour time format with DST if desired.

It is nothing fancy, but it does its limited job very well for me.

Quoting Klaus (Reply 2):

The reason for me wanting a more advanced version than the standard issue clocks, is for FlightSim. It's really handy having UTC and lists of several times zones becomes quite handy when working out when you're supposed to go past certain waypoints on the FMC and working out local arrival and departure times properly, The standard clock makes that a little trickier.

I am hoping that when Apple release 10.7.1 or 10.7.2, whichever comes out next (which is another arguement for another thread) that it'll fix a few of those inconsistencies in widget behavior on the Dashboard.

Thanks for your advice, Klaus.
